Only for those I love would I traipse into the merciless Northlands to risk life, limb, and my exquisite beauty. But do they appreciate it? Only for those I love would I traipse into the merciless Northlands to risk life, limb, and my exquisite beauty. But do they appreciate it? Do they say, "Gwenvael the Handsome, you are the best among us-the most loved of all dragons?" No! For centuries my family has refused to acknowledge my magnificence as well as my innate humility. Yet for them, and because I am so chivalrous, I will brave the worst this land has to offer. So here I stand, waiting to broker an alliance with the one the Northlanders call the Beast. A being so fearful, the greatest warriors will only whisper its name. Yet I, Gwenvael, will courageously face down this terrifying . . . woman? It turns out the Beast, a.k.a. Dagmar Reinholdt, is a woman-one with steel-gray eyes and a shocking disregard for my good looks. Beneath her plain robes and prim spectacles lies a sensual creature waiting to be unleashed. Who better than a dragon to thaw out that icy demeanor? And who better than a beast to finally tame a mighty dragon's heart? Contains mature themes.

Big fan of the Dragon Kin series. Great character development. Be aware that when purchasing this bundle you get the full book(What a Dragon Should Know), 2 short stories (good stories made me want more), and an excerpt from Last Dragon Standing.

As the third born dragon son Gwenvael the Handsome knows his family thinks he is a fool though the women fall all over him. Thus he is taken aback when his seven months pregnant sister-in-law Queen Annwyl assigns him to a key mission. Because of her delicate condition, she cannot travel to negotiate a treaty with the Northlanders and the Beast; she orders him to go in her place; especially after his crack that she is big. Gwenvael would do anything for Annwyl, so he agrees. He revels in her confidence in him but accepts the mission mostly to escape her wrath and her husband his older brother Fearghus the Destroyer and his adopted sister Izzy the muscle queen before they beat his face into a bloody pulp for upsetting the pregnant queen. He arrives at his destination only to learn that the most feared warrior in the world the Beast is a brilliant human female Dagmar Reinholdt, whose ingenious plots have protected her father the warlord Reinholdt and their people. An even bigger shock than learning who the Beast is (to Gwenvael the Handsome) is that Dagmar with her glasses and plain robes on seems to ignore his beauty; women jump his bones and scales not scorn him. Instead to his greatest shock, she appreciates his intelligence, a first for a dragon who lives by his charm and looks. As Gwenvael tries to win Dagmar's heart, treachery from within threatens both their families. This is a super hysterical romantic fantasy starring a sly vainglorious dragon and a clever fraudulent human falling in love though she verbally rips off a few pounds of scales from his skin. Fans will laugh loudly at the gender war as Dagmar takes the handsome out of Gwenvael and Gwenvael takes the beast out of Dagmar. G.A. Aiken has written a tremendous irreverent tale that amusingly turns sexually changes Beauty and the Beast. Harriet Klausner

I discovered the dragons after the 4th book had been written. This is really book number 5. You have to read all of the books she has written. If you read them out of order it doesn't matter. They are so good you will go back and read them in order no matter when you start the series. The next book comes out in November and I can not wait!

The novel What a Dragon Should know is a good story I enjoyed it . But the photo used to sell the novels imply's that you are getting four novels not just teasers of the stories. It will make me question every nook purchase In the FUTURE am I getting all that I am paying for.

If I knew what to say to make everyone go out and buy this series, I would say it. I love these characters. There's tons of humor, but it's not a lighthearted read. And the humor doesn't feel forced on you, like the author is trying to make it funny, it just is! It's all in the dialogue. The way the family of dragons treat each other and the humans that are lucky enough to have found their way into the horde treat them and are treated. It's a family structure like you've never seen before! Oh the violence! But what do you expect when they are all a bunch of dragons! I would recommend the first two books be read before this one. There are several things that carried over from the previous books, but it's the characters you don't want to miss out on. Annwyl and Feargus from Dragon Actually and then Briec and Talaith from About a Dragon! And the secondary charcters from those two books, all played roles in What a Dragon Should Know. What a Dragon Should Know made me laugh and even weepy-eyed. It was a well rounded story with a healthy dose of everything that makes a book a good one. Not a good one, but a great one--a memorable one. Awesome plot with unexpected twists and turns. Fantastic character development. And a wonderful romance. There is no brooding male in What a Dragon Should Know. Oh no, just an arrogant and handsome dragon. But he does attempt to brood in order to woo his woman. Oh jeez, I am laughing just recalling one particular scene. I've never read a character quite like Gwenvael. This book goes back and forth between Dagmar and Gwenvael and all the other characters from the previous two books, expanding their characters further. And at no time did I wish the story would just stay with the h/h. Oh no, I wanted all the other characters too. Because each of them have such a unique personality, well, they all seem to be a bit violent and snarky and just plain fun, that I wanted them just as much as the h/h. I loved the first two books in the Dragon Kin series, but this third one totally had me captivated, but I don't think it would have had me so enthralled had I not already known the characters from the first two books. You're not just getting two characters. All of them seem to come to life, making their presence known and even anticipated. What a Dragon Should Know has, without a doubt, earned a spot in my top ten books! Definitely a 5 star book!

I've totally enjoyed this series! I loved the characters, got totally involved in the story, and found myself laughing out loud at the wit and charm. Defininately read these in order. Recommend: Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series; Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series; J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series; and Jennifer Cruisie's Agnus and the Hitman.

I have read countless romance novels, but this one is definitely at the top of the heap. The hilarity is the most significant draw, but the steamy love scenes and and the flawed characters make it even more worthwhile. It's not as raw and hot as the Black Dagger Brotherhood, but I'm definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

I loved the beginning of this series, however, the beginning is out of order. To really get the entire story you need to read the second half of this book first. Then go from there. If the story wasn't so amazing I would have said forget it, but it is truly that magnificent. It really is not the authors fault and the editing and publishing company's fault. I would suggest the author chose another company because this story is just that awesome.

~ 5 What a Dragon Stars ~ What a Dragon Should Know is book three in the Dragon Kin series by G.A. Aiken. I absolutely love thee’s dragon! This series has captured my heart and keeps me coming back. What a Dragon Should Know is a re-read for me. I love diving back into this world. Dagmar is the only daughter of The Reinholdt. She is a masterminded politician that kicks ass and can hold her own amongst the warriors, with a sharp tongue and iron will. Gwenvael the Handsome is the most fun-loving of all the dragons next to Eibhear. No one takes him seriously and that he uses to his advantage. I loved his attitude and sluttiness along with his loyalty to family. The author always finds a way to make the leads complement eachother, especially when they are an unlikely match. What I love most is that you feel the connections between the characters whether they are family, friends, or mates. The love that flows with the romance is strong and believable. The humor and banter is always great fun to read about and we get to see previous couples come back along with seeing how their relationships continue to develop.  I will always come back to this series. I can’t get enough of the fun loving, witty, sexy dragons! I highly recommend pick up the Dragon Kin.
