School Library JournalK-Gr 1-A boy, accompanied by his dog, asks a group of construction workers, "What are you waiting for?" as they perform a variety of tasks that culminate in a new playground. Children who are not yet able to read will soon recognize the recurring phrase on alternate spreads and experience a sense of accomplishment in being able to "read" by themselves. The colorful cartoons on full-bleed spreads provide plenty of humor and action as the child moves from spot to spot giving his orders. "Level it!" "Dump it!" he demands. A note for parents offers suggestions for reading and discussion. Beginning readers will enjoy this book.-Sheilah Kosco, Rapides Parish Library, Alexandria, LA Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
