Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

"One day I had an idea. 'Where did it come from?' "Why is it here?' From that first puzzled inkling, the little boy realizes that the idea was following him like a small egg waiting to be hatched. Finally, it does. Kobi Yamada's What Do You Do With an Idea?, touchingly illustrated by Mae Besom, reminds us what we do with an idea: You change the world.

I bought this book to help my children be courageous with their ideas. Ironically, I have passed it around more to my adult friends!
I live in Silicon Valley, the land of startups, where ideas literally come to be born and change the world- social media, wireless
technology, electric cars, wearables, medical devices, etc..  Friends at IDEO and Stanford's d.School absolutely loved it and
want to use it  when starting new projects.  Every startup accelerator should have its new members read this beautiful story!

After reading this book with my son I noticed a spark of courage in him which made him realize it's okay to come up with his own ideas! I love how the black and white illustrations transform into color as the idea became bigger! Anyone who reads this book will be encouraged to open their hearts and minds to make their ideas come true.

This book is destined to be a classic, along with greats by Shel Silverstein and Dr. Seuss!  After reading this inspirational tale together, my kids and I were talking about how powerful and wonderful ideas really can be, all evening long.  Frankly, this book will inspire people of any age who have creative ideas they imagine.  It's a must read!

The illustrations are what initially drew me to this book (the most unique and beautiful illustrations to date in a children's book. Pure art.), but after reading it while at Barnes & Noble, I couldn't not buy this book. The message plants the seed of creativity, confidence and the ability to change the world with an idea.  As a former middle school teacher, its the message I wish all of my students could have heard in such a creative way. My almost three year old son asks for "MY idea" book every night . It's an inspiring message for all ages.

This book follows its own advice--the author had a great idea, and we can see how it grew!

I gave this to my 5-year-old for Christmas and we immediately had to read it 3 times through. It's a beautiful book that is inspiring and wonderful for kids and adults alike.

    Highly Recommend

While this is a beautiful children's book, it also works for adults. I gave as gifts to colleagues in leadership & management roles. All ages need to remember the value of having ideas, nurturing their ideas, and doing something with them!

Very cute inspirational book. I gave it four stars instead of five because the plot line isn't very exciting to the 8 year old I bought it for.
