About the Author

Lisa Amstutz is the author of seven science books for children, one adult nonfiction title and many magazine and newspaper articles. Her educational background includes a B.A. in Biology and an M.S. in Environmental Science/Ecology. Lisa taught outdoor education for several years and still enjoys sharing her love of nature with children. Lisa lives on a six-acre hobby farm in rural Ohio with her husband and four children.

I really enjoyed the artwork and it clearly reflected the text. . . .Throughout the book, there are highlighted notes in boxes that give valuable information about the current subject. I also like that the animals in the artwork are labeled according to their spot in the food chain. The food web in the back of the book is a nice review of the entire book and really could be useful in a classroom setting as well as student projects and reference work. The simple story would also work well as a classroom readaloud.
