Meet the Author

Alan Axelrod, Ph.D., is the author of a number of books, including The Complete Idiot's guide to World War I, The International Encyclopedia of Secret Societies and Fraternal Orders, and the first and second edition of What Every American Should Know About American History. He has taught at Lake Forest College and Furman University. He lives in Atlanta, GA.

Charles Phillips is the coauthor of Portraits of the Civil Wary, What Every American Should Know About the 20th Century, and The Encyclopedia of Historical Treaties and Alliances. He has taught at the University of Iowa. He lives in Rochester, NY.
