Overview

Biography Large Print Edition A simply elegant memoir. Newsweek * A New York Times Bestseller In an exquisitely written memoir, Mia Farrow introduces us to her extraordinary life. The painful custody battle with Woody Allen led her to reflect on the incidents that had brought her to a place so incomprehensible. The result is What Falls Away, a memoir resonant with honest and beautifully crafted prose. Told with grace, understanding and humor, it goes beneath the surface of an amazing life to expose the inner workings of a mind and spirit for whom truth, compassion and faith are essential. Readers will not easily forget this remarkable book.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
In 1992, the custody battle between Farrow, star of 13 Woody Allen films, and Allen, who fathered her son, made headlines. Farrow quietly and clearly narrates the first six cassettes in this account of her life, encompassing events from her early days: her recovery from polio at age nine; marriages to Frank Sinatra and Andr Previn; meditation with a guru in India; and, briefly, acting in film, TV, and theater. She tells of her love for her own children and her many adopted orphans. The last two tapes, read by Cheryl Gaysunas, paint a dark picture of Allen. Aside from the traumatic struggle over the children, this memoir skips on the drama, career, and humor. Of interest mainly to Farrow fans.Gordon Blackwell, Eastchester, N.Y.

After turning only a few pages of this interesting book, I could not put it down. Dad just had to wait until I finshed it. In fact Dad did not get his 'birthday present' until 3 days later when I had finshed it. Read it and you will find yourself reliving your own childhood. June in Boston

What a great book. I couldn't put it down! Mia has had a very interesting life and I'm glad she shared it with us. From Andre Previn, to Frank Sinatra, to Woody Allen, Polio, adoptions, time with the Beatles - it goes on and on. Can't wait for her second book (this one came out before Woody married Soon Ye!). Ladies, you will love this book. Buy it for light reading and you'll soon be lending it to your friends - that's what happened to me. I can't get it back fast enough to read it again!
