Dr. Haulman is an exacting historian and he writes very well.  This is a well documented book, very readable and enjoyable.  The motion picture left fact behind and is simply a Hollywood story.  Dr. Haulman brings forth the real story which is a lot more interesting - and it does justice to the brave men who served.
