The author does a great job of explaining the real reason for Christmas without preaching at the children. It's written in fun rhyme so my grandchildren love it, and the illustrations are so cute! It's a great size for little hands, too. Buy it for your family! I highly recommend this book.

Fun book for toddlers to show them there is more to Christmas than Santa and presents.

We started a tradition with our 1 year old this Christmas, whereby he gets to open one book each night for the 12 days leading up to Christmas (as our collection grows it will eventually be the 25 days). I purchased a number of very good books for him this year, and this was one of my favorites. I purchased some Christmas classics like the 12 Days of Christmas and The Night Before Christmas, and some silly ones, and I wanted one about the "real" meaning of Christmas. This was perfect for him. It was short, had cute colorful pictures, and rhymed which is helps keep his attention. It doesn't disregard the secular traditions, but lets kids know what Christmas is really all about too.

Overview
Here is a book for toddlers that helps parents as they attempt to reconcile the religious significance of Christmas with the secular celebration of the holiday. After taking the reader through the Christmas symbols of gifts, cookies, trees, and even Santa Claus, the author concludes that these things are fun, but the real reason for the celebration is Jesus. This is the perfect book for parents to introduce to little ones the concept of Christmas and the birth of Jesus.
