Children's Literature - Nicole Peterson DavisDo you know why we celebrate Veterans Day? Have you heard how it began? This book teaches young readers basic information about Veterans Day. The book could be used as a reference for a research paper, or just as a book with basic information about the holiday. This 24 page book contains a table of contents. The book also contains a page of words to know with definitions that include: Armed Forces, holiday, military, patriotic and veteran. Each two page spread contains a photograph on the one side with the text in large print on the other side. If one of the words is in the definition page, it is highlighted in blue. The book is up-to-date, with photographs of President Obama, our current President, giving a speech on Veterans Day. The end of the book contains directions to create a large Veterans Day thank you poster to honor the Veterans. The last part of the book also contains a list of other books and websites to be used as resources, as well as an index.
