Meet the Author

Hi! Thanks for coming to my author page. I'm a writer, but I didn't want to learn to read. School bored me from the start and the rules stifled me. Then, starting at seven years old, I read Edgar Allan Poe. How different from my schoolbooks! Poe freed me. He awakened my love of language with his words of fire.


Over time, my short stories, poetry and articles appeared in Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine, Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine, Interzone, Daily Science Fiction, The Baltimore Sun, The Washington Times, The Lyric, Woman's Day and Seventeen, among others. A play was produced in the Baltimore Playwrights' Festival. I've written ad copy, taught writing at the graduate level, co-founded and run a literary magazine, worked as a reader/fiction editor for a literary agent and copy edited art instruction books and a medical journal. Some of my unpublished novels have finaled in Romance Writers of America contests.


A refugee from the East and West Coasts, I live in the Texas Hill Country with my husband, Raphael.
