What Summer Blinds May See

What Summerblinds May See opens in the exclusive calm of the Hamptons, where finance magnate Robert Storm, his wife Vanessa, and their young son Robby live a seemingly charmed life. But the illusion fractures when an anonymous accusation claims they are abusing their child.

In a matter of days, the Storms find themselves under mounting scrutiny—from law enforcement, the media, and their own carefully curated world. Then a murder occurs, and Robert becomes the prime suspect. The evidence is chilling. The accusations escalate. Someone, it seems, is dismantling their lives piece by piece.

But why?

As the investigation unfolds, the Storms turn inward. Doubt creeps in—not just about those around them, but about themselves. Friends become uncertain allies. The past returns in fragments. And with each step closer to the truth, the psychological strain deepens.

Robert is not alone in his fight to clear his name. With the help of a small, loyal circle—Jasper, the family’s ex-military majordomo; Jack Foreman, Storm Enterprises’ corporate counsel and a long-time friend; child psychologist Jill Ashley; and two NYPD detectives, Gloria Jackson and Hank Miller—he begins to push back.

But the enemy is precise, deliberate, and intimately familiar with their every move.

As the Storms face the growing threat to their family, reputation, and sanity, they’re forced to confront a painful question: Is this about guilt—or vengeance? And how far back does the rot go?

Set against a backdrop of privilege and power, What Summerblinds May See is a psychological thriller about buried wounds, the fragility of trust, and the terrifying weight of perception. When the truth emerges at last, it will not only upend the Storms’ world—it will change how they see themselves.

About the Author

Ani Corné is a bilingual author and freelance journalist whose work spans fiction, poetry, essays, short stories, and children’s literature. She has been writing in both German and English under her pseudonym since 1998.

Born in Germany in 1960, Corné grew up in an international environment and has lived in the United States, Great Britain, France, and—most recently—Italy, where she spent over a decade. She speaks four languages: German, English, French, and Italian.

In 2003, she founded Online Writers Against War, an international platform uniting authors and journalists from around the world in protest against the US-led invasion of Iraq. She served as editor-in-chief until 2005. During her time in Italy, she also contributed political commentary to the English-language magazine Underground Focus in London.

Ani Corné returned to her native Germany in 2013, where she continues to focus on fiction and poetry. Occasionally, her political commentary still appears online.

She is the founder of Interviewed by Friends, a long-term humanitarian project dedicated to fighting xenophobia and prejudice through cross-cultural dialogue. The project welcomes international participation and includes guest contributions from actors, writers, and artists.

Outside her writing and non-profit work, Ani Corné is a devoted jazz enthusiast. The Jazz à Vienne festival in France and the Newport Beach Jazz Festival in California both appear as settings in her fiction.
