I've owned this book for so long that the copy is spine-broke and batter-splattered. (Have ordered a used hardback copy that may arrive someday -- been waiting three weeks on it.) It's a fantastic cook book for cold, rainy weekends when you didn't make it to the grocery store and there's only pasta and a few other odd ingredients in the cupboard. It is not a book to learn to cook from, but people who have some experience with basic cooking skills will do fine with it. And it's fun to read! He has a great sense of humor that comes through in the chapter headings that discuss each main ingredient. My favorite recipes are the Chick Pea Chili soup, Chocolate Brownies, Apple Crisp and anything with capanata or tuna.
