Meet the Author

Arlene Eisenberg worked on all three editions of What to Expect When You're Expecting and remained active in the What To Expect Foundation until her death in February 2001. She was also co-author, with Heidi Murkoff, of the "What to Expect" magazine columns.

Sandee Hathaway holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Boston University. An experienced RN with a specialty in obstetrics and neonatal care, Sandee lives in Waban, Massachussets, with her husband and three children.

It all started with a baby…and a book. Heidi Murkoff conceived the idea for What to Expect When You're Expecting during her first pregnancy, when she couldn’t find answers to her questions or reassurance for her worries in the books she’d turned to for much-needed advice. Determined to write a guide that would help other expectant parents sleep better at night, Heidi delivered the proposal for What to Expect When You’re Expecting just hours before delivering her daughter, Emma.

Dubbed the “pregnancy bible”, the iconic New York Times bestseller is now in its all-new fourth edition, with over 17 million copies in print, and according to USA Today, is read by 93 percent of women who read a pregnancy book. Other titles in the series include Eating Well When You’re Expecting, What to Expect the First Year, What to Expect Before You’re Expecting (a complete preconception plan), and the newest member of the What to Expect family: What to Expect the Second Year, the must-have guide for parents of toddlers. The What to Expect books have sold more than 34 million copies in the US alone, and are published in over 30 languages.

In 2005, Heidi expanded the What to Expect (WTE) brand online with WhatToExpect.com – the interactive, state-of-the-internet companion to the WTE books, and home to a vibrant, vast, yet close-knit community of 3 million parents. In 2009, WTE went mobile with the WTE Pregnancy Tracker (the most popular pregnancy app in the world), the WTE Fertility Tracker, the WTE Baby Name Finder, and the WTE First Year Tracker.
Heidi’s passionate commitment to moms and babies led to the creation of the What to Expect Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping underserved families expect healthy pregnancies, safe deliveries, and healthy, happy babies. With a beautiful, culturally appropriate low-literac

I love this organizer! I had one for each of my children (2) and now that I have a 3rd on the way, I will be going to bn to purchase a new one! It had everything I could think of and everything I didn't think of! I recommend it to anyone expecting a baby!

I am using this for my 3rd and it's my favorite of the 3 I've tried! It has: PRENATAL DIAGNOSIS - to write Dr. and Ultrasound visits & tests in. JOURNAL includes - 40 (maybe 38?) weeks worth of spots to write about your pregnancy, a Fetal Movement Diary, Daily Food intake diary and more. GETTING READY FOR BABY- Baby Essentials Checklist, places to write when & what you've bought for baby, A place to put names to concider for baby, and a place to write about the baby shower and a chart for who bought what for the baby. GETTING READY FOR CHILDBIRTH - Has some pages to write about details fo your childbirth classes, Birthing plan (it gives the Q's and you write in the answers), Hospital checklist. & BABYS ARRIVAL - Labor Diary (once again every Q you can think of about Labor is on there and you just fill inthe answers so you don't have to think of everything), Childbirth Diary, Baby Vital Stats & appearance etc. First Feeding, Going Home, and more! This Jornal/Organizer is the BEST by far of all them that I've found, I absoloutly LOVE it. On all the areas to write it gives you detailed Q's for everything so you just fill it all in, makes less trying to remember what to write and less writing, it's perfect! -Windy-

I loved having this journal! It came in very handy when I would go in for my appointments. It's cool to see now what I wrote then, I'll be able to use it as a comparison for our next baby. In fact, I plan on giving one to my sister-in-law, who is due in late April 2006, for Christmas this year! EXCELLENT! Kristin H. Independence, MO

I live in Ft.Wainwright Alaska and I have searched for this book. I used it 3 years ago with my first one and I loved it. It has room for everything. I look back in it now and I am glad I bought it then. I'll be sure to buy one for every pregnancy

This is my third pregnancy, and my third time using this great journal. The Doctors are always impressed at my appointments when I can tell them how my weight or other health concerns has changed. My sons love hearing things that happened at this point in my pregnancies with them, and it is a great reminder for me of what to look forward too. i give it as a gift for all my PG friends too!!!

I'm currently 21 weeks and I've found this organizer extremely helpful. I wish that it had little pocket folders (hint to publishers) to hold prescriptions, etc. It's small enough to fit in a little bag (which I love). I take it with me to all of my appointments. There were women in the waiting room asking where did I get it from.

I loved this little book/journal. I used it with my second pregnancy, and love the fact that I can go back now, 2 years later, and read all the different things that went on. I am definitely planning on getting another one for my next pregnancy. The nurses at the hospital even liked it because I had all my previous information in it. I highly recommend any pregnant mom to get one of these books!!

I used this with my last pregnancy and Im using it for my current pregnancy. It is great! It helps you keep track of all of your appts in one easy to find place. You can write to your baby in the journal area and share your thoughts and feelings. My records were lost during a move and my doctor used this as a reference until my records were found again. This is a great buy I highly recommend it to any pregnant women, or as a great baby shower gift!

This little book has everything! From a textbook pregnancy to the most complicated one, you need to keep track, and this journal helps in every way. So many others I looked at had to much other text in it and not enough space to note your own experiences, information from the doctor and even that first heartbeat, and all the little things you want to remember. And it's small enough to fit in a coat pocket. If your pregnant or even plan to be, this is the book you need!

I am a journal person, so when I found out I was pregnant, naturally I bought this book. It helped me so much. I had a trouble pregnancy and I was able to keep track of all complications. My daughter will appreciate it when she's older. I wish my mother had done it for me. Its a wonderful way to keep tract of medical history too. I also buy it for family and friends when I find out they are pregnant. You will definally love this book.
