Overview

Now in its second edition, here is one of the first and only issue-based nonpartisan guides to contemporary American politics. It’s a very exciting time in American politics. Voter turnout in primaries and caucuses across the nation has shattered old records. More than ever, in this election year people are paying attention to the issues. But in a world of sound bites and deliberate misinformation and a political scene that is literally colored by a partisan divide—blue vs. red—how does the average educated American find a reliable source that’s free of political spin?

What You Should Know About Politics . . . But Don’t breaks it all down, issue by issue, explaining who stands for what, and why, whether it’s the economy, the war in Iraq, health care, oil and renewable energy sources, or climate change. If you’re a Democrat, a Republican, or somewhere in between, it’s the perfect book to brush up on a single topic or read through to get a deeper understanding of the often mucky world of American politics.

Decide your political party without biased opinion

Being a young voter something I got out of this book was I was able to side with a political party without being pressured from the author, family, or friends. I actually learned the main issues Democrats and Republicans side with it. Suprisingly, just learning the facts I was able to decide what I believe in and its different than what my parents raised me as. I would like to give this author Kudos for being the first to deliver the facts without a biased opinion.

    more from this reviewer

    Highly Recommend

I thought this book was quite thorough. It breaks down many important issues and explains them in an easy to understand way. I highlighted a lot of this book because of the information I'd never known or it was a clarification of what I thought I knew already.

    Very Informative!

This book is really easy to read, even for someone who is interested in politics but doesn't have a political science degree. Though much of the information is concerned with the current events around the Bush administration, the background information on why political parties believe what they believe, and make the decisions they make is very interesting and informative for the reader to gauge where they themselves stand on these issues. Politics is a sometimes complicated subject, but this book really helps the reader to understand where the political parties are coming from. If you are at all interested in politics or, just in the current political debates, you should read this book.

    To 'The Daily Finds'

The Freedom Chasers have been warding off assassin after assassin- all of which were trying to kill the same cat! Glimmer the pink winged tigress has been single-pawedly chasing them off, while at the same time helping her clan battle a Hydra and chase off an evil clan's raid. They are located at 'freedoms song' second result. (For an interview, expect an answer in 3-4 hours or sooner. They are not the most active clan, but they will not ignore you. Probably.) ~An Avid Reader and Fan of 'The Daily Finds'
