Most of the material was good, but we were disappointed that the text clearly and plainly states that it is perfectly natural and acceptable for people to engage in sexual activity with same sex partners. Acceptance of homosexuality opposes our (and most) religious views.

    A good STARTING point

This book is a good STARTING point for the conversation that parents should have with their kids. Not sure its possible to write a book on this subject that someone wouldn't find distasteful. The key is, when your kid asks "What do they mean?" be prepared to have that conversation, and don't be afraid to tell your kids that you don't agree with what the author says about certain subjects.

"Good Book Except for Page 25"

I am a single parent of a son who will be 10 in a few weeks. He has informed me that he has seen some changes in his body. His father, who lives in another state, said that he will be talking with him regarding the changes. Since I am the primary caretaker, I wanted to gain some knowledge myself. I wanted something that I knew he would read and, we would discuss it together. I enjoyed to book until I got to page 25, "Fantasies and Attractions" in particular when it refers to, "'s common to like someone the same sex as you,..." and "there's nothing wrong with being gay. It is much more acceptable to date people of the same sex than it used to be." I was not happy to read this. This was the only sore spot that I have with this. I wanted to keep the book so much that I was going to take a sharpie permanent marker and blot it out. But, I didn't want my son wondering what was so bad for me to do this after seeing boys and girls body parts. Therefore, I didn't do it, but when we do discuss this section of the book we will discuss our religious belief regarding this statement and it is not something I want him to me involved in at such a young age. Otherwise it was good reading.

    Great Book

This made my 11 year old ask questions, and I have to say - there were questions I didn't know the answer to answered. Great book.
