Introduction by Michal Mahgerefteh

"Mother was first diagnosed with breast cancer when she was only forty-one years old. For over twenty-five years, Father supported and cared for Mother throughout her treatments and, sometimes with anger and frustration, until her passing in 2010. As her health deteriorated over the years, he was there / in years of silent layers. Toward the end of her life, Father often showed weariness, being emotionally and physically exhausted, as he himself was diagnosed with cancer and diabetes. But for him, there was no one to take the pain away. In this collection, I reflect on Mother’s last days and give Father’s poignant struggle a voice."

Editorial Reviews

Lois Greene Stone
"Your poetry evokes, for the reader, feelings, personal experiences and memories, and allows the reader into your pain and life. While you write for YOUR need to write, a reader is 'let in' and can sense your pain and be filled with events or circumstances in her own life that can make her feel less alone. I am that reader."

Lois Greene Stone has published extensively and is well represented in museums and cultural institutions throughout the United States.
Zvi Sesling
"Yes, this is a sad book, but one that may help others whose family has suffered the terrible effects of terminal illness that has extended itself for many years and affected family members. It may not provide the hope or the answers people seek, but it will help them cope when they see others have gone through their anguish."
