The wind WHISTLES, sea lions BELLOW, and tugboats RUMBLE.

Little ones will delight in turning the sturdy pages of these books full of sound.

The What's That Sound? board books serve a dual purpose for inquisitive little ones. Not only do they link noises to objects but they encourage the association of meaning to letters on a page_the first, crucial step for developing reading skills.

Author Sheryl McFarlane's rhythmic, read-aloud text is perfectly complemented by Kim LaFave's bright, colourful scenes. A glorious book with plenty of sounds for little noise makers everywhere.

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
This board book with its cartoon-style illustrations really must be read aloud since the emphasis is on sounds. Kids go to the beach and supposedly hear a fog horn (but that would not be much of a beach day), watch waves lap against the shore, listen to the seagulls squawk, and hear boats as they pull their ropes and let out creaks when secured to the dock, It is not easy to get the sound concept across to kids, especially if they have not yet been to the beach. The book might be more effective with older special needs kids who find board books easier to manipulate. Part of the "What's that sound?" series.
