Overview

A killer's deadly game needs new players . . . but someone's about to change the rules

As a medical examiner, Serena Hopkins is used to dealing with death. But that doesn't make it any easier when she's called to the eerie scene of a murder--especially when Serena realizes that she knows the victim. Nearly as unnerving is the presence of FBI agent Dominic Allen, her childhood crush.

As evidence mounts and points to a serial killer with disturbingly familiar methods, Serena and Dominic must work to find a pattern and stop the killings before the murderer strikes again. And when Serena's own life seems at stake, she must decide if the secret she has been keeping has put her next on the killer's hit list. Can she trust Dominic with the truth before it's too late?

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Medical examiner Serena Hopkins is used to grisly crime scenes. She has managed to shut her emotions off as she navigates the world of death, but that is about to change. When she is called to a murder scene, she immediately recognizes the victim as a former classmate. On the scene is another familiar faceā€”her high school crush, Dominic Allen. As they investigate, evidence begins to point to a serial killer. Serena also realizes that a secret she has been keeping may make her the killer's next target. VERDICT This intense nail-biter of a thriller (after When the Smoke Clears) is a sure bet for Eason fans and those who enjoy Frank E. Peretti.

What Happens When a Heart stops?

In the sequel to her first “Deadly Reunions” book titled When The Smoke Clears , Lynette Easton continues the story of Alexia, Hunter and friends. This time, Serena Hopkins, the town medical Examiner, is up against a slew of murders that all have one link: she graduated with every victim. The killer is a copycat of a murderer years ago called the Doll-Maker Killer. It can’t be the original because he is still behind bars. Serena and her once-crush from high school, FBI agent Dominic Allen (Alexia’s brother) make it their purpose to find this murderer and stop him. It’s too close to home to let it go – or to let anyone else handle the case. In an interesting study of serial killers, groups of friends and how battered and abused children can turn out, Easton has done an excellent job of filling out the plot, bringing in surprise characters (Camille, the battered teen) and weaving it all together in a book that will keep you up until it’s done. I had absolutely NO clue as to the killer’s identity! I thought I did but I was wrong – which made it an even better read!

    Excellent Book

I really liked this series by Lynette Eason. The female characters in this series were strong characters. The action was not quite as fast paced in this second installment of the series, but it still kept me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend this series and this authors other books.

Just as good as the first!

If you read When the Smoke Clears, then you'll love this one! It picks up shortly after where the first one ended, and leads you on another suspenseful journey! I can't wait for the next one!

My Opinion (From a Warriors Rpers Side of View)

I am Christian, and I think of this as a disgrace to God. Especially S** Rps and Slavery Rps. S** Rps to me are ways to get retarded people to say swear words on the NOOK. I hate how they try to make it real. Im not saying that you hould have s** though (We all know some people will have kids). And the slavery. What a HAM. You know this is wrong. This is a huge disgrace to God and Jesus ( Sorry for Buddah believers and other Gods, its just what I believe in ). What if you were God, and you saw this going on? I would not have put a soul on Earth if I knew it would lead to this. In general, this is bad, but I wouldnt report them because for Warriors rpers, I see people looking for reviews then they post a review about how we should stop. So were not in the clear either. Thank you, and I am fully against this. ~Warriors Rper of: Greykit Wavestar Windwing Skycloud Sunpelt Swiftclaw Fireclaw Starsoul Swiftkit Burntthorn Fernkit Redkit Patchkit Quickstar Quickstaff Branchpaw Scarstar Lionwhisker and Scarfur.

    Stop slavery!!!

Slavery is not right. Stop doing it on warriors books too! It blocks out clan things and it is not nessecary. Clan things is not innipropiate while slavery is unnacepptable. We should stop it once and for all!!!!!!
