But life isn’t about plans, at least not the ones we make. Bastian, disowned and disillusioned, is on better terms with his .38 than his future, and Kaylee, faced with a tumor that money can’t cure, grapples with her own mortality. One night their paths cross as Kaylee stumbles off a bridge into icy water. Bastian dives in after her, unsure if he’s really trying to save her life or end his own, but it never occurs to him that he might be the one who needs to be saved.

Despite the odds stacked against them, Kaylee and Bastian fall in love, and in the twilight of Kaylee’s life, she will teach Bastian not only how to live, but also why. He, in turn will help her to find that even in the face of unspeakable fear and loss, there is the grace of love.

    Intensley Emotional

I received a copy from the author although that does not obligate me to a good review. This book has all the elements of a contemporary women's fiction novel. I am a HUGE fan of HEA endings, so the conclusion - though appropriate - was a bit of a disappointment. (I kept hoping/waiting for a miracle) :-) However the character growth of all was evident and well written. Despite the obvious editing errors, fans of Nicholas Sparks would enjoy this story! I look forward to reading more of Ms. Hooley's work. Pamela S Thibodeaux, Author "Inspirational with an Edge!" (tm)

    Extremely Good--A Must Read

This was a book about life, love, and friendship. This story flew off the pages, it seemed, so that the characters danced in front of me. I felt I was there every step of the way. This novel was a true love story, one that stays in your mind long after you've finished. The author connected to me, the reader, and that is a prize in of itself. But this story earns two other first prize awards: the saddest, all-about-love story, and the best romance-is-life story.

    Really Good

I really liked this book, it told how much you need to forgive people even when time is running out. I would of loved to give this book 5 stars but my only problem is that I wish you found out if Bastian forgave his father or not. I also really liked how things with Denna and Angie were patched up. Overall a really good book.

This is a Great Love Story!

This book takes the old idea of a dying woman meeting her soulmate before she passes away to a new level because there is a reversal of sorts. Kaylee is dying but wants to live. Bastian is living but wants to die. Only with each other are the two individuals whole, and that's what I like about this.
