Overview

If someone asks single mother Frankie Castor to clear a room, she'll smile and find a vacuum cleaner. Ryan Harper uses a gun. Can they work together when their lives depend on it?

Frankie’s returned to her childhood home in Montana to help care for her mother. Her biggest worries are balancing the budget and the upkeep of an aging home. When she offers a man a ride home from the hospital, she never imagines she’ll end up having to choose between her daughter’s life and matters of national security that could cost the lives of millions.

Ryan returns to his family home to find a way to prove he didn’t leak vital information on a covert ops mission gone south. As he searches for the meaning of a file he’s kept hidden from the mission, he has no idea that international mercenaries have been searching for it—and him. When the mercenaries come after Ryan, he’s torn. Fighting for his country wars with fighting to rescue people he loves.

Set against a Montana mountain backdrop, When Danger Calls is a story filled with action, adventure, and romance, where the stakes keep getting higher and higher.

Editorial Reviews

Romantic Times - Barb Anderson
Odell has written a story with nonstop action. There are plenty of surprises, especially when the line that separates the good guys from the bad guys becomes blurred ... Odell's writing will keep readers on their toes.
Orlando Magazine - Jay Boyar
"...an action-packed adventure tale with agreeable results."
Romance Reviews Today - Amy Cunningham
WHEN DANGER CALLS is more than romantic suspense; it's also a love story at its best. It’s exactly the kind of book that should put Terry Odell on the map, an author to watch out for in mainstream and paperback fiction. With action that pops and characters that zing, WHEN DANGER CALLS is more than a dot on a map.

Meet the Author

Terry Odell was born in Los Angeles, moved to Florida, and now makes her home in Colorado. An avid reader (her parents tell everyone they had to move from their first home because she finished the local library), she always wanted to "fix" stories so the characters did what she wanted. Once she began writing, she found this wasn't always possible, as evidenced when the mystery she intended to write rapidly became a romance. When she thought about it, she realized that her favorite mysteries were series where she could follow the developing relationships of the protagonist—to the point where she'd read the book twice; once for the relationship and again to follow the crime and its solution. So, she started reading romance, and found there was a genre that included mystery themes as well as a relationship.

Although her genre is labeled "romantic suspense", Terry prefers to think of her books as "Mysteries With Relationships." You can find more about her at her website, http://www.terryodell.com.

    more from this reviewer

This is an exciting romantic suspense

Following his second failed black ops mission in which people died and he is injured, Blackthorne agent Ryan Harper is put on medical leave. He knows that everyone at the private security firm assumes he turned rogue, but he believes someone inside caused the two failures; they were set up and he plans to bring that person down as a little girl who died in the first fiasco haunts him. Thus Ryan retrieved the container he was sent to obtain, but tells his boss otherwise so he can learn why something allegedly minor caused deaths.

Ryan returns to his hometown of Broken Bow, Montana to stay with his Pop on the ranch. He meets Gladys a waitress at the Three Elks and is attracted to her. Ryan later learns she is an elementary school art teacher Frankie Castor, a single mom to precocious six year old Molly. Frankie worries about her mom who has suffered two injuries since starting a relationship with Bob Dwyer. As Ryan and Frankie fall in love, he comes to the rescue of her, Molly, and Molly¿s ¿friend¿ Mr. Snuggles even as someone wants what he possesses from his last mission; that person is willing to harm his loved ones something that is unacceptable to Ryan.

This is an exciting romantic suspense that grips readers from the onset when Ryan¿s cakewalk mission turns ugly and never slows down as his work arrives at Big Sky Country. The cast is very strong especially the lead couple and their immediate family. Although major coincidence twice involving land takes somewhat away from this fine thriller, fans will appreciate Ryan¿s reactions WHEN DANGER CALLS.

Harriet Klausner

    Anonyous

It was okay but it was pretty much boring. I didnt really enjoy it. I got about 30 pages in and i decided it was too boring to read. That says a lot because i challenge myself to read at least 100 pages before giving up. So dont waste your money. Buy a book that really satisfies your longing to read a good book.

I absolutely loved it! I received this book as a gift in the morning and was finished by the end of the day. The plot is very interesting and very well balanced with realistic characters, action, suspense, fun and romance. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in the series. This book is a MUST READ!

    Great book & better characters

This is another winner. The plots & characters have a realistic depth & the plots twist & turn enough to keep the reader enthralled. I have yet to find a book from this author I don't like.

    Lame, lame, lame...no STARS

I couldn't finish this book. As a matter of fact, I deleted it from my library it was so lame. I kept waiting for the much promised and anticipated action, and it never materialized. I skipped to the final chapter to read the conclusion, only to find Odell using it to write mild porn.

Not to sound sexist, but women of her writing ability should not attempt to write adventure novels. Try reading some Richard Marcinko Rogue Warrior novels to get a feel for what a REAL ex-Navy SEAL is like. Not the mamby-pamby guy in this piece of crap.
