When Destiny Knocks started off well, Karlie moves to a new town and meets a boy she has an undeniable attraction to. Then, she gets suspicious of her friends and Shane when they keep telling her that it’s too soon for her to know the truth. So, a nice love interest and mystery surrounding Karlie’s new life got my attention and kept it for a while.
I began to lack enthusiasm for When Destiny Knocks because so many events in the story just happened out of the blue. For instance, Karlie meets Alex while out bowling. The next time they meet he’s suddenly in love with her. I don’t have a problem with insta-love, but Alex and Karlie’s relationship was pushing the envelope a little.
Every new chapter was an increase in action. Realizing this pattern sparked something within me to keep reading. Karlie’s life became an epic journey overnight in which anything could be thrown at her. There’s a slew of villainous monsters on one side and a team of teenage guardians protecting ‘the chosen one’ on the other.
When Destiny Knocks is the kind of story with non-stop adventure and more than just a few plot twists. Anything can happen and you’ll never see it coming. Heather M. White sticks to the usual parameters of the paranormal genre so if you’re a fan of vampires, werewolves, and the like, The Destiny Saga is right up your alley.

I really enjoyed this book that dealt with a few different types of paranormal. It held my attention to the end. I liked all but the shocker that happened at the end. I can't wait for next book to see how that all turns out. I loved the romance and am excited to see where that goes too.

Karlie is moving from New York to small town Arkansas after her mother dies, and going to live with her father who she hasn’t seen in years. Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in Arkansas. Or does it? Strange things start happening and no one will give Karlie answers. And then on the first day Karlie is drawn to Shane and can’t stop thinking about him and his green eyes. She knows he holds the answers to her questions but he won’t tell her anything. And why is everyone else so set on keeping her away from him?
When Destiny Knocks was an interesting short read. I wasn’t blown away with the story as a whole but really enjoyed it. I just thought it started off a little too much like Twilight. I don’t know, that’s just my opinion. But the rest of the story held its own and was very different than most of what I have read lately. And I did like that its based out of a town that I know. I am from Arkansas, and while the author makes it seem like it only has a few people in the town it is actually one of the bigger towns in the state. It’s just neat seeing a story with a town that I am actually familiar with.
Fan of angels, demons, and humans who are meant to save mankind from the clutches of evil? Love stories with a crazy cliffhanger endings? Then this book is for you!
