I find that this book is in many ways a sequel to Desiring God by John Piper. Where Desiring God is about why having joy in God is essential to the faith, When I Don't Desire God is about fighting for that joy. Reading this book will leave its impression on the reader because it is not the common emotional high Christian book, but a book that is biblical, historical(with how the Christians of the old days fought for joy in God), and honest. It is detailed and will leave you applying what you have read. John Piper never disappoints in his writings.
