Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly

In the newest from veteran romance novelist Kurland (Star of the Morning), Manhattan concert violinist Jennifer McKinnon fears that she will never find a decent man—a tough enough prospect even without the "otherworldly things" in her family tree. Namely, her mother's side of the family has a history of marrying people from outside their own time period, and her ghostly relatives have conspired to get Jennifer married off to the perfect knight: Nicholas de Piaget, of the 13th century. After Jennifer is hurled back into his world by means of a time gate, she falls instantly in love with the handsome knight. Though the feeling is mutual, Nicholas is tormented by her desperation to find a way back to the future. Though the setup is promising, Kurland fails to deliver any meaningful conflict. The leads never seem to be in any real danger of losing each other, as nearly every character works to get them together and keep them that way. Moreover, the exceedingly chaste romance—with just a few passionate kisses between the leads—will leave many romance fans frustrated. (May)

When I fall in love, it will be with Lynn Kurland.

This was my first Lynn Kurland novel, but I loved every minute of it and I cannot wait to read more of her work. The humor is actually funny, I found myself laughing a great deal, and the romance is sweet, I found myself getting that warm fuzzy feeling on more than one occasion. Now I like steamy sex scenes as much as the next person, but I am relieved that Kurland felt she didn't need this kind of stuff to clutter up in her story. I just hope that I can have such a dashing knight like Nicolas some day!

    an interesting romantic fantasy

Manhattan concert violinist Jennifer McKinnon feels she will never meet and marry her soulmate though she admits the potential pool of perspective suitors is wider than most single females. Her maternal heritage includes mating with a beloved from a different time period than their own. These otherworldly relationships are taken for granted by Jennifer and her kin.--------- Unbeknownst to lonely Jennifer, the ghost-side of her family believes they have the ideal spouse for her. They plan to hook her up with and married to Nicholas de Piaget, even if he is a thirteenth century knight and she is a twenty-first century musician. Her matchmaking kin send Jennifer through a time gate to Nicholas¿ era where each finds the strings of their respective heart stirring. As they fall in love, this duet has a problem that time cannot heal as she wants to go home.------------- This is an interesting romantic fantasy starring a likable couple who obviously belong together, but whose time may not come to pass. Interestingly there are no villains as everyone wants the musician and the knight to come together. Jennifer has a problem because she wants her Starbucks and her Nicholas. Though somewhat muted, fans of time travel romances will enjoy this ghostly enhanced tale of two chronologically impaired people falling into a love that will be forever.------- Harriet Klausner

    Love the de Piaget series

I have loved every book I have read of the de Piaget series. I can't get enough of the characters in these books. They are multi-faceted and jump right out of the books into your heart. When I start one I cannot put it down. I don't read the books too fast because I don't want them to be over.

I think this might be my favorite one so far in this series. I could not put it down once I began reading. From the start it captured me. I love that Jennifer is a violinist; I could understand the importance of music in her life. I thought that the romance was perfect. The Cinderella type story was endearing. Nicholas really knows how to show a girl he loves her. I did not agree with information they withheld from each other, but I understand why they did. It was clean and they kept to kissing until after they were married.

This book was not overbearing with villainous activities; there were enough close encounters so that we know that they can handle themselves well in a fight but they were not always in peril. It made it more realistic for me and more enjoyable.

I LOVE the time travel aspect that has different people from different times living in other times. It could be confusing but for some reason flows nicely. It also puts a bit of a twist on the historical portion. Because some of the characters are from the 21st century, the 13 century setting is not entirely true, there are aspects and speech that is a crossover.

The characters are so real with their own personalities. You just can't help loving each one of them (except the villains of course). I absolutely love the interactions between characters. They are funny and endearing as well as insightful. There is a strong sense of family and love.

    Just the best reading ever!

    Reading At It's Finest

I have read all of Lynns books except the one im ordering tonight.I have recomended them to every one i meet. They make you wish all men were as those in her books.Strong above measure, vonerable at times, willing to die for love and honor and honest. When they fall in love it's forever, and i love the time travel maybe because i dont like flying and it would be a cool way to travel and not be in the air.Ill keep reading as long as she writes.
