Four years ago, Caitlyn Thompson met Cole Mazzei, a charming, attentive man. Two months into the relationship, things changed. He became obsessive, controlling and would call her work twenty times. He wanted an account of her whereabouts every minute of the day. It became real clear this wasn¿t going to work out. Refusing to let the relationship go, the phone calls increased. He started showing up at her job. When she¿d come home, there he was. It seemed like everywhere she went, so was he. Since Caitlyn didn¿t have close ties in New Jersey, she relocated to Atlanta. She came home one night and Cole was there. He brutally raped her. Eventually, she escaped and this time she was smarter. Leaving no paper trail to follow or staying any one place too long, Caitlyn has eluded Cole. Now she¿s living in Oakland, California and is the director of the East Oakland Youth Center. She¿s sent out proposals for funding to help the struggling center where she meets Marcel Baptiste, owner of several BMW dealerships. Immediately Marcel is attracted to Caitlyn, but she can¿t trust a man again or can she? And what about Cole? Has he forgotten about her or is he waiting for her to surface again?

When I¿m With You by LaConnie Taylor-Jones I started reading When I¿m With You on a Saturday afternoon, and I finished it by Sunday afternoon. It was a quick read, but a GOOD read ¿ a book I would definitely recommend to friends, family and my book club. This book drew me in from the prologue. I found myself laughing out loud at the humor, tearing at the romantic gestures and totally invested into the personalities of the characters ¿ so much so that I felt like I was sitting at the dining room table with the Baptiste family. I appreciated how Taylor-Jones keeps the story flowing, only mentioning relevant information, while leaving room for me to unfold the mystery and for my imagination to color in the characters. This ¿boy meets girl¿ story is nicely layered with an interesting story line and supporting characters you can really get behind. Although I found a few errors where characters were misnamed, I¿d still have to give this book the classic two thumbs-up! ~KLF Literary Lovers Book Club ATL

LaConnie Taylor-Jones does an outstanding job with this book! It's a great story with real life issues, a wonderful romance and definitely worth reading! Main characters Caitlyn and Marcel are wonderful, fragile and believable! Without giving away too much....it has realistic writing look at the date rape/stalking situation and the strength of the human spirit and what the love of a good man can do! And the love scenes ain't bad either! HOT!HOT! HOT! READ THE BOOK!

Ms. Taylor-Jones has written a first-rate debut novel. The hero is to die for and the heroine has such a tortured past you will cheer for her to find a man worth trusting with her life and her love. Marcel and Kaitlyn are a couple to root for until the very last page and beyond.

When Caitlyn Thompson's car breaks down, Marcel Baptiste, owner of several BMW dealerships offers his assistance. Marcel is taken with Caitlyn but little does she know that he is also the philanthropist she has applied to for a grant for her youth center in Oakland. Although, Marcel recognizes her name, he does not let on to Caitlyn who he is. Caitlyn, having trust issues because of an abusive relationship, has been on the run for three years from an ex-boyfriend. Yet, she has deep feelings for Marcel as he has for her. The author touched on domestic violence however, the relationship and play between Caitlyn whom he calls stubborn and Marcel whom she considers arrogant makes for an enjoyable story. When the Baptiste sisters, Caitlyn's friend Vic, Mama Z and the dogs, Kenji and Max get together, this makes for a wonderful read. With an unexpected twist that keeps you turning the page, I am looking forward and hoping that Ms Taylor-Jones will bring us more stories from the Baptiste friends and family especially A.J. and Vic, brother Ray and PI, Alex.

Caitlyn is faced with opening herself up to love, or continuing to live in fear. The challenges she lives with, coming from an abusive relationship, are met head-on by the author. Summary: Caitlyn Thompson meets Marcel Baptiste when her car breaks down. Towed to one of his BMW dealerships, she initially thinks he¿s the mechanic. They are drawn to each other from the start, but Caitlyn¿s issues with trust become apparent. Caitlyn has no idea Marcel is the anonymous benefactor to who she submitted a grant request. Although Marcel realizes Caitlyn¿s identity, he keeps the connection quiet. Marcel becomes aware of Caitlyn¿s reticence to share personal information, but he refuses to be dissuaded. He slowly draws her into his protective embrace and loving family, and Caitlyn must free herself from her fears and allow Marcel to bring her the love and joy she deserves.

This book was an enjoyable read. The Baptiste Family is hillarious. I love the scene when Caitlin fixed Jambalaya shrimp for the family.
