Overview

I began to question whether I would live through the pain.” It felt like her world had ended. A personal betrayal had led to a very public scandal, and when the dust cleared, Riva Tims had lost her marriage, the church she had helped found, and the life she had known for nearly fifteen years. Imagine your husband cheating on you, the mega-church that you helped build falling apart, and having to put aside your own despair to be strong for your children.

In telling her story, Tims doesn’t hold anything back. The personal and painful details of her broken marriage made me feel like I was her close friend, (accompanying her through brokenness toward restoration.) While I loved hearing the stories of Tims’ struggles and triumphs, there were times that I became overwhelmed and a bit sad, and had to put the book down for a bit. Still, the last few chapters were very uplifting in providing practical ways to cope with life’s most difficult moments and emerge victorious.

Tim’s account also answers the following universal question: “Why do bad things happen to good people?” Her storytelling was refreshingly real-to-life in admitting that she too questioned God when her ministry and family life began to unravel. The honest tone and raw emotion that Tims employs is what makes her book such a compelling and worthwhile read. All in all, “When it All Falls Apart” teaches the reader how to effectively cope with pain, overcome hurt, and walk in the amazing life of victory that God has promised for all of His children

This is a wonderful book and a book of forgiveness and healing. I am
sometimes amazed of what we have to go through in this life. God knows
our end from the beginning. At the end, we want to hear Well Done.
