There, Emily becomes increasingly obsessed by thoughts of Nicholas and on several occasions is pulled back into his time in the person of Elinor. She senses the feel of Nicholas' embrace, the very real sweetness of his lips, and the tenderness of his touch.

Gradually, Emily becomes aware of time lapses and she begins to question her own sanity. A local soothsayer explains what is really happening and why. Emily must go back to 1900 to right a wrong and save the lives of Nicholas and Elinor.

Editorial Reviews

Detra Fitch

Dark and compelling! If this one does not give you goose bumps, then you are not human! I must say that I now believe that Linda Colwell is the master (or is it mistress) of gothic writing! This is a time travel romance that is set in both June 2000 and 1900 of West Virginia. No matter if you prefer time travel, gothic, historical, or paranormal, it is all in here!

....You won't regret purchasing this book! Wonderful!

    A Spine Tingler!

Linda Colwell has written a gripping romantic thriller that moves easily between Victorian West Virginia and its modern-day counterpart. The story deals with the timeless, immutable love of Nicholas and Elinor and the struggle they must endure to withstand the evil force that is bent on seperating them. Their modern-day ancestor, Emily, is drawn unwillingly into the past to help fight this evil. When The Lilacs Bloom is a well-written, compelling novel that keeps your senses tingling throughout -- with excitement, passion and suspense. I recommend When The Lilacs Bloom to everyone!

From Su Kopil - Editor, Yellow Sticky Notes

When the Lilacs Bloom is a haunting tale. A compelling story that is impossible to put down. Linda Colwell has a unique voice that is reminiscent of Phyllis A. Whitney and Victoria Holt. I will definitely be watching for her next book.

Haunting Love Story That Will Keep You On The Edge

I could not put this down! A story of love that knows no boundaries, not even time. If you like Victoria Holt, you will love this new author. Linda Colwell is a spell weaver! Haunted by a childhood fascination of Nicholas Langford and the tragic fire that claimed him and his new bride in 1900, Emily Foster soon becomes preoccupied to the point of obsession. When she returns to her hometown for her grandmother's funeral, strange things begin to happen to Emily and she soon finds herself transported back in time. Can Emily save Nicholas? How are Emily and Elinor connected? The reader is kept on the edge and questioning up until the end. Masterfully written, this story gripped me from the first word and didn't let me go until the very last word. Captivating!
