Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
The unique strengths and challenges of women in the workplace provide the focus for this book. Duff, president of a consulting service for women, surveyed over 500 women and conducted 100 in-depth interviews to investigate women's attitudes toward and relationships with their female coworkers. Duff discovered attributes unique to women: connection, caring, and cooperation. She also identified ways in which these qualities can adversely affect career advancement for women. Case studies, quizzes, and suggestion lists aid women in finding ways to work constructively with one another. An interesting, helpful book for women who value career and relationships.-- Nancy Myers, Univ. of South Dakota Lib., Vermillion
WomanSource Catalog & Review: Tools for Connecting the Community for Women
Fortunately, woman-owned businesses are bursting forth in huge numbers. Today, there are over 5 million woman-owned businesses, and in the future women are expected to hold 40% of the small business market ownership. According to Carolyn Duff, at a time when women are emerging into new spaces, our progress continues to be blocked by counterproductive behaviors between women in the office. When Women Work Together eloquently highlights how women's innate compassion and congeniality is both an advantage and a disadvantage; these qualities may foster warmth and unity in the workplace, but they can also prevent potential advancement. Carolyn lays it all out on the table and provides us with a formula for encouragement, achievement and harmony.
