One of the sweetest love stories I've read. I laughed, cried, and felt a deep respect for those who sacrificed for our freedom. Don't let this book pass by without reading it.

A must read for any one who likes a true historical love story. Another good read to go with this is Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. A WWII story of survival, resilience and redemption.

A very, very sweet love story. I loved the first person view of the turbulent times in America during World War II, both before Pearl Harbor and after. It's not a "great literary" work. It's a work of heart. To me, that's even better!

I enjoyed reading about how people lived leading up to and during WWII. This book made me appreciate my parents generation and the sacrifices people made back then. I thought Ms. Pitts did a good job of explaining everything her mother went through and what her life was like as a war bride.
I have recommended this book to several friends and am buying a copy for my mother who was a WWII war bride also.

What a true explanation of the way it really is when one goes off to war. It is about as true to life as could be by putting it into writing. Don't miss this one it will make you appreciate too the fullest what they go through.

I enjoyed this book but feel the reviews should state more clearly which books are religion based.

This book was a sweet tale of an innocent, naive love that happened many, many years ago. A very quick, easy read of a story told from the romanticized viewpoint of a war widow.

I really liked this story but found it to be a little anti-climatic after her loss. The beginning and end tie in with her daughter seemed to be kind of abstract. Overall it was fairly good.

I loved this book. Hated to put it down. The characters were so easy to know and I really lost myself in the story.

Learned a lot about that generation. Ms. Pitts, made me feel the joy
and pain of living during that time period. The story describes the
lives of those living during WWII and their dreams, hopes and strengths.

Loved this little book about life before and during WWII, very innocent and such a sweet story. Brought tears to my eyes, because so many couples were like the couple in this book at that time. Lovely book.

Overview
"Daphne Cavin's poignant story of love, loss and sacrifice was one of the most memorable I encountered in writing The Greatest Generation. Her daughter now completes the story with this very heartfelt book." - Tom BrokawBased on the World War II experiences of Daphne Kelley Cavin, first featured in Tom Brokaw’s The Greatest Generation
The war claimed Daphne Kelley’s young husband’s life, but it couldn’t keep Raymond – and his abiding love – from being with her when she needed ...
