When You Cook Upon a Star began as a wish for a handy recipe book of comforting food to share with friends and family. The Auxiliary of St. Luke's Hospital is a close-knit group of people who render service, give financial aid, and promote public awareness of the health and educational initiatives of St. Luke's Hospital for its patients and hospital community.We are also good friends, neighbors, co-workers, family and most importantly-food lovers. Whenever we gather, conversation inevitably turns to the intriguing search for the best-loved recipe. Whether we need a quick cake, an elaborate entree, or crowd-pleasing casserole, someone has a favorite recipe to share.
When You Cook Upon a Star: Shining Recipes from Near and Far is a collection of favorite recipes from Auxilians, volunteers, employees, and friends of St. Luke's Hospital and Health Network. Our St. Luke's community covers a large area, including Bethlehem, Allentown, Easton, Quakertown, and Coaldale. It embraces many cultures and traditions, including the Pennsylvania Dutch, Hungarian, German, Spanish, and Greek. Our recipes reflect the rich ethnic diversity of our communities and the variety of "tastes from home" that we seeking our cooking.
