I purchased TWO copies of this wonderful book. One for my daughter to have as she grows up, and the other for when she is old enough to appreciate the details in this book. It provides insight into the social structure of Vietnam and the facts of placing a child for adoption. It stresses how much birth mothers love their children, but in fact cannot provide for them. It has history, food and cultural references, For me, the most poignant part of the book was the photographs of Tam Binh orphanage in Ho Chi Minh city where my daughter was loved for three months before she came into her forever family. This book will instill pride in the child for her rich heritage and help her understand why she came to us. It will also facilitate her understanding of her culture when we return to visit her homeland.
