Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
nothing more than feelings The new board book series Feelings for Little Children by Elizabeth Crary and Shari Steelsmith is designed to help toddlers learn to talk about emotions. The rhymes of When You're Mad and You Know It advise the steamed to "blow air out," "shake it out" and "give a shout." Other titles include When You're Silly; When You're Happy; and When You're Shy. Mits Katayama's bright, simple pictures pair each round-faced emotional child with an animated animal mascot.

    A great teaching tool

Toddlers love acting out this book that shows what they can do when they are mad-like "shake it out." It helps them gradually learn that there are alternatives to tantrums and hitting others. The words fit a familiar tune to help it stick in their heads. And its cardboard pages can take their rough handling.
