About the Author

Jennifer Shakes is a professional animal conservationist artist, author and speaker. She studied at Whitechapel University, gaining a BA Honours Degree in Business Studies & Law. She previously worked in banks in the City of London as a desktop publisher. She has been recognised for her art at Colchester Zoo and drew their Southern White Rhino (Ceratotherium simum), currently classed as near threatened on the ICUN Red List of Endangered Species, in charcoal. She recently showcased a gallery at Thoresby Courtyard, Nottingham, and discussed the importance of climate change to individuals and the purpose of looking after animals and our environment. Her main medium of art is colouring pencils and charcoal.
