Who do you call when Uncle Sam can't help you? Blackthorne, Inc.
Behind the public faade of a private investigation firmBlackthorne, Incorporatedlies a band of elite covert operatives.

Dalton (just Daltonnobody dares call him Ambrose), is one of Blackthornes best. A charming Texan, he prides himself on blending in, and theres no one he cant scam. But his obsession with putting a Colombian drug lord out of the picture threatens to endanger his life and the lives of his team. When Dalton nearly blows a simple undercover assignment at a fundraising gala, it convinces his boss to tether him to a dog-and-pony-show case at a halfway house. Instead, Dalton finds death, drugs, and danger.

Street-smart Miri Chambers wants nothing more than to help everyone at the Galloway House shelter lead new and productive lives, but residents are disappearing without a trace. An unexpected meeting with Dalton at a gala turns into an assignment for him, but Miri doesnt think hes taking the job seriously. Trust doesnt come easy to Miri. When the situation escalates into a combat zone, can she trust Dalton with her life and her heart?

Where Danger Hides is book 2 in the Blackthorne, Inc. series, and this time Dalton is front and center.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Odell follows 2010's When Dangers Calls with this sizzling suspense tale. Dalton, "just Dalton," is a sweet-talking Texas black ops contractor equipped with a sharp mind, big muscles, an intriguing background tragedy that makes him cry over babies, and boatloads of sex appeal. Miri Chambers, manager of a shelter for wayward teens, is just his type: "proud, strong, intelligent, compassionate, and one hundred percent female," with a past she'd rather not reveal. Odell spins a somewhat unlikely tale of drug trafficking and illegal immigration around them, but the real action is in Miri and Dalton's passionate mutual attraction, and not even his cold showers and her idealistic do-gooding can douse its uncontrollable flames. Romance fans will drool over Dalton and his fellow camo-clad helicopter-riding commandos as they look for runaways and love. (June)

Meet the Author

Terry Odell began writing by mistake, when her son mentioned a television show and she thought shed be a good mom and watch it so theyd have common ground for discussions.
Little did she know she would enter the world of writing, first via fanfiction, then through Internet groups, and finally with groups with real, live partners. Her first publications were short stories, but she found more freedom in longer works and began what she thought was a mystery. Her daughters told her it was a romance so she began learning more about the genre and craft. She belongs to both the Romance Writers of America and Mystery Writers of America.

Now a multi-published, award winning author, Terry resides with her husband in the mountains of Colorado. You can find her online at:

Following an overseas operation, in Columbia, Blackthorne director Horace "Blackie" Blackthorne informs field operative Dalton he will stay stateside for now to cool down. He assigns the hot shot attending a gala to obtain information. While there a woman picks his pocket. Later Blackie informs Dalton that Miri Chambers, manager of Galloway House shelter, lifted his ID at the party and she needs help as some of her charges are missing. Dalton wants to return to the field, but agrees to assist Miri though he doubts there is any issue except people leaving. He changes his mind when they learn two of her missing clients are dead. Furthermore his gala case and her missing people suddenly interconnect with her sister and brother-in-law caught in the crosshairs. The latest Blackthorne thriller (see When Dangers Calls) is an action-packed over the top of the Sierras tale as illegal immigration and illegal drugs converge. The lead couple is a great pairing as each has a history they prefer hidden. Loaded with action, marvelous Miri and "just" Dalton make for a fun taut suspense thriller. Harriet Klausner

The novel is a suspenseful thriller with a healthy dose of romance. Or maybe it's a romantic thriller with a good deal of suspense that keeps this moving at a sometimes alarming pace. "Where Danger Hides" is both, and it's also a fantasy in particular in the way and the speed with which the two principal characters are drawn together. Miri Chambers is the caretaker and overseerer of a San Francisco shelter primarily for abused women. Galoway House also manages to shelter and care for a number of children and men, as well. There's a lot more to Miri Chambers. She is adept at disguise, light-fingered and as prickly as one can get. Two wrong words and she is liable to go off like a rocket. That propensity for shoot-from-the-hip judgments and attitude may also be the reason for her nearly unbelieveable hormonal response to the hunk she meets on a clandestine foray into the home office of a wealthy art patron. Her reaction to "just" Dalton isn't much different from his. He works for a private security firm that has a large well-funded and mostly covert group of operatives working well outside the usual legal limits. Dalton, one of Blackthorn's elite black ops operatives has an appreciated eye for female anatomy, wherever he finds it, including hiding under the desk of the aforementioned wealthy San Francisco Art patron. Dalton and Miri Chambers are all fire and sparks and hot sex throughout this rollicking novel. The author has created a pair of characters who could each carry the novel solo, but when you pair them, look out. The action carries Dalton and Chambers from posh and elegant settings to gritty exceedingly dangerous operations. Readers are not likely to predict each succeeding move. One is required to suspend disbelief and recognize from the outset that explicit play, both sexual andfirearms, is integral to the story. Nevertheless, the plot is carefully and fully laid out, the dialogue is mostly logical and the tension carries well through the entire book. Gritty, tender, frustrating by turns I did feel that there were times when both characters exhibited too obtuse attitudes and were slower on the uptake than they should have been, given their life experiences. Nevertheless, this is a fun read that makes several important points along the way.

All of Terry O'Dell's books are well written. The Blackthorne series are especially exciting with crime(not gruesome) and romance combined. Keep the books coming.
