A story of seeking-and finding-God's will in unlikely places.

Gabrielle Fairbanks has nearly lost touch with the carefree, spirited young woman she was when she married her husbandfifteen years ago. But when the couple moves to Chicago to accommodate Philip's business ambitions, Gabby finds the chance to make herself useful. It's there she meets the women of Manna House Women's Shelter; they need aProgram Director-and she has a degree in social work. She's in her element, feeling God's call on her life at last, even though Philip doesn't like the changes he sees in her. But things get rough when Philip gives Gabby an ultimatum: quit her job at the shelter or risk divorce and losing custody of their sons. Gabby must take refuge, as in the song they sing at Sunday night worship: "Where do I go when there's no one else to turn to? . . . I go to the Rock I know that's able, I go to the Rock."\

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly

Jackson's Yada Yada series has sold half a million copies, and this new offshoot series-the Yada Yada House of Hope-promises the same. Gabrielle Fairbanks moves to Chicago with her businessman husband, Philip, leaving their sons behind at boarding school in Virginia. She literally stumbles over a homeless woman, an event that changes Gabby's life. She looks her up at Manna House, a homeless shelter, and first finds welcome and eventually a job. But her husband is hostile toward both Gabby and her job. Can she juggle her angry husband and his new business, her sons when they come home for the summer, her ill mother, her job and her growing interest in God? While the plot certainly generates interest, readers may become weary of Gabby's lack of grit when it comes to Philip, as well as his selfishness and anger toward his wife. But the book's dramatic ending highlights both, leaving readers eager for the next installment in the series. (Dec.)

    Great story line

As a christian woman I was able to relate with alot in this story. Is an amazing story of a woman with her roles as wife, mother, daughter, employer and friend as she juggles all that life throws at her. You see that only thru God's love, mercy and grace she is able to withstand. The title says it all; Where do I go? Only to Jesus who sustains us. Can wait to get part 2!

    Awesome read!!

If you love the Yada Yada series you'll love this one even more. Even though it's a new series (House of Hope) some of the Yada Yada sisters are in this book also. It's like a continuation of that series with new characters. I've already read all three books in this series and am anxiously awaiting book 4. You just can't put this one down without finishing it.

    Inspiring..
This is the first book in the Yada Yada House of Hope series. Fans will notice some differences in this new series compared with Yada Yada Prayer. However, they will also notice some familiar characters.
Gabby is a great mother, but she is a depressed person. Her husband is controlling. She finds meaning to her life when she begins working at a shelter for the homeless. He gives her ultimatums to quit her job, give up her friends, and get over the God thing or he would divorce her and take their children away from her.
Neta Jackson does an excellent job breathing life into her characters. I did not like Gabby at first, but as the book progressed and her husband's true character became known, I felt sorry for her. The ending of this book is abrupt. It is a cliffhanger, and I hope it will be resolved in the next installment. The moral of this story is that God is always there for us if we will turn to him and seek His presence. It is unfortunate that the next book in this series is not due out for almost a year. How can we wait that long to discover what happens to Gabby?

I wanted to read the next book in the series RIGHT AWAY!

I loved the Yada Yada Prayer Group series and was just waiting for the next series to come out. I love the way Mrs. Jackson writes and the way her books relate to God's Word. Keep them coming.

    AWESOME

NETA JACKSON HAS OUT DONE HERSELF! THE WAIT FOR THIS WAS WELL WORTH IT, THE ONLY THING THAT BOTHERS ME IS THAT I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2009 FOR THE NEXT BOOK IN THIS NEW SERIES. I ENJOYED THE NEW AND OLD CHARACTERS COMING TOGETHER. AS ALWAYS I LOVE THE WAY PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT WALKS IN LIFE ARE SHOWN TO BE THE SAME,GODS CHILD. GET YOUR BIBLES OUT TO USE THE BIBLE VERSES THAT ARE USED, AWESOME!!! I FOUND MYSELF SINGING THE PRAISE OF HIS LOVE TO MYSELF OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

    Loved it!

I've read all seven books in the Ya Da Ya Da Prayer Group series and so looked forward to the next series. I was not disappointed. Others have given an overview of the plot, so I won't do that. This book was different from the first series, but I loved it just the same. I am reading Harry Bentley's Second Chance by Dave Jackson which is the parallel novel to Where Do I Go? While you can read this book without reading any of the others . . . don't. If you do, you are depriving yourself of a wonderful faith journey.

    Difficult Husband

Although this book is one of a series, it is a stand-alone read. I have not read any of the Yada Yada books, and yet I read this one without having any missing pieces. The protagonist, Gabby, is a likeable mother-of-two whose successful husband lands her in a high-rise luxury apartment in Chicago, right on Lake Shore Drive. Gabby's a free spirit--someone who thinks that Lake Michigan is made for her to dance in. She enjoys the simple things in life. Unfortunately, her husband wants a corporate wife--someone who will help him move to the upper crust of society. They seem to be polar opposites.

And that's where there's conflict. Gabby's perfect world begins to crumble, and the reader witnesses her scrambling to keep it together. Does she succeed? I needed a tissue for this one. The end does not conclude as I thought it would. Oh, you must buy this xbook and find out!
¿

Fans of Neta Jackson will rejoice with the opening of her new series.

Gabrielle Fairbanks has been a supermom to their sons and very supportive of her husband¿s career at a cost to her own identity. When Gabby and her spouse relocate to Chicago for his job, they agree to leave the kids at boarding school.

However, with the children away at school, Gabby suffers from empty nest syndrome, but is unsure what she wants to do. When she meets a homeless person, Gabby finds a calling and obtains work at Manna House Women¿s Shelter. However to her chagrin her husband opposes her work and the new friends she has made; he even has issues with her finding God in her life.

This direct sequel to the recently completed Yada Yada saga includes some of the cast and the beginnings of the same inspirational "House of Hope" messages of ¿to thine own self be true¿ by getting involved to help others through God¿s forgiveness. The spousal war over who Gabby should be and her asking herself the title question is well designed, but those needing closure will have to wait for the next novel. Fans of Neta Jackson will rejoice with the opening of her new series.

Harriet Klausner
