Pleasant Surprise
Joyce DeBacco has brought us a novel that is full of drama and unexpected events. Vicky is a widowed single mother, living a life of abuse and poverty until fate opens the door for her to become nanny to the three children of Jack, also widowed. The arrangement is a suitable one for both Vicky who is in need of a safe environment and Jack who needs everything that a woman like Vicky can offer him and his three girls.
Vicky and Jack, two damaged people with unpleasant pasts, try living in a domestic situation without complicating things by allowing romance to become a part of the equation, but they may have to get married as Vicky is threatened to lose her son to his newly discovered father. Is this this love or another business arrangement?
Just when things seem to be improving for the two families, living as one, things unravel quickly as their lives are threatened to the core by a vengeful ex.
I enjoyed reading a book that is hard to classify. The genre really could be romance, suspense, or chic lit. Other than wishing that the suspense piece of the book was not so rushed, I found Where Dreams Are Born to be a fast and fun weekend read that will probably be enjoyed by many. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I would recommend this book to those who like women's fiction, romance and suspense, and who want to keep it light.
