Addiction is a prevalent issue in the US. It is seen clearly as how it affects our society and community, but how it affects families behind closed doors is less conspicuous, especially the children, the most innocent and sensitive being affected. Through a series of vignettes, aspects of the life of families and children of addiction are discussed how they differ. But the main theme is through the hardship of addiction, hope is born and the hidden keys to a satisfying, fulfilled life are revealed.

About the Author

Bria Riley is the author of "A Stolen Childhood" and "Where Hope is Born". She was born and currently resides in Southern New Jersey. In middle school, she felt the drive to write about addictions due to personal experience in her own family with her father being an alcoholic and her cousins' addictions. She considers herself a spiritual Christian and believes that this was God's plan and purpose for her. Bria enjoys relaxing, exercising, watching the show "General Hospital", listening to music, cooking and eating delicious food, and summer days. Her first book "A Stolen Childhood" was briefly based on her life. "Where Hope is Born" was inspired by her life growing up as a child of addiction. She is a contributing writer for the magazine Sex, Etc. and has been on "The Addiction Show". She has a website that is informative on topics such as addiction, drugs and alcohol, dysfunctional families, etc. and also includes inspiring music and resources.
