Children's LiteratureThe characters in the book include a young boy and an older girl, perhaps his sister. The young boy, like many small children, asks question after question, always beginning with, "Where is the . . . " In the end, Henry is located, only to find that Henry is a lion, who the children know definitely does not belong in the bed. This title uses a hide-and-seek idea to teach students the Social Studies concept of Expanding the Environment for children. This concept is one taught to educators as they prepare to teach elementary-aged students about the world around them. Starting with the most familiar aspect of their environment, from a quilt all the way to the universe, this book uses wonderful illustrations and limited text to engage even the youngest reader. Children will quickly have the text memorized, which will make it a perfect read-along for pre-school aged children and younger elementary students. 2005 (orig. 1972), Star Bright Books, Ages 3 to 7.
