Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Simms Taback won the Caldecott for Joseph Had a Little Overcoat and this board book is a reissue of a book produced earlier in his career. The board book features several animals with a question posed to the reader "Where is my house?" Kids find the answer by lifting the large flap. For example, they will learn that a donkey lives in a shed, a rabbit has a hutch, and a bird lives in a nest. Since several of these houses are manmade, the last spread makes it all clear that these animals are part of a farm where a young girl lives. Bright illustrations are filled with bits of humor, like the one of the mouse whose home is a black hole in the ground and as he heads for it a large pair of inquiring eyes are staring back at him. 2005 (orig. 1984), Blue Apple Books, Ages 1 to 4.
