Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
PreS-Gr 2 --Children of varying races and physical conditions learn, eat, nap, and play in an inviting classroom. The class' activities are described and illustrated on each double-page spread; each scene ends with the chorus ``But I am looking for a bear./ Can you show me--/ where is the bear?'' Simple, full-color watercolors, reminiscent of Nicki Weiss' work, and a broad white border make the book inviting for toddlers and preschoolers. The illustrations are cluttered and warm, well suited to the mood of the narrative and the classroom scene. However, while hide-and-seek books such as this are always popular, the bland plot and uneven rhythm of the text distract from the give-and-take encouraged by this format. --Jane Dyer Cook, Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library, CA
