This is a really good book!

Where The Red Fern Grows is a good book. Billy is a young boy that wants coon hounds but his father doesn't have the money to get the dogs. His dad wants to get him a collie but, billy doesn't want it.
After a few days billy finds a paper and in it was puppies for sale. Billy worked hard for two years to get them. After he got them he started training them to hunt and they turned out to be good hunters. The end of the book is really important because it shows how the book got its name where the red fern grows.

Best Piece of Literature Ever Written

I would like to comment on what the last person wrote. I don't know if you know it or not, but hounds are hunting dogs, and during the time that this book was written, people hunted for food. The boys family had little money. They couldn't afford to even buy him a dog. He saved his own money. Those dogs were protecting him, it represents man's best friend. This book is heartbreaking, but its an amazing story to read. My students love it!!!!

    OK Book

I liked most parts of this book, but I hated the ending. Some parts made me stop reading. The huge portion of me is an animal lover and it broke my heart when that stupid kid took his dogs out hunt and got killed. It was totally his fault those dogs died and I want to kill him.
