American Empire is at its apex. We are the sole superpower with no potential challenger for a generation. We can reach any point on the globe with our cruise missiles and smart bombs and our culture penetrates every nook and cranny of the global village. Overview

American Empire is at its apex. We are the sole superpower with no potential challenger for a generation. We can reach any point on the globe with our cruise missiles and smart bombs and our culture penetrates every nook and cranny of the global village. Yet we are now the most hated country on earth, buried beneath a mountain of debt and morally bankrupt.

Where the Right Went Wrong chronicles how the Bush administration and Beltway conservatives have abandoned their principles, and how a tiny cabal hijacked U. S. foreign policy, and may have ignited a "war of civilizations" with the Islamic world that will leave America's military mired down in Middle East wars for years to come.

At the same time, these Republicans have sacrificed the American worker on the altar of free trade and discarded the beliefs of Taft, Goldwater and Reagan to become a party of Big Government that sells its soul to the highest bidder.

A damning portrait of the present masters of the GOP, Where the Right Went Wrong calls to task the Bush administration for its abandonment of true conservatism including:

- The neo-conservative cabal-liberal wolves in conservative suits.

- Why the Iraq War has widened and imperiled the War on Terror.

- How current trade policy outsources American sovereignty, independence and industrial power.

Provides Understanding for GOP and Dems Alike

Buchanan covers all bases in explaining how his conservative views differ from others'. Although I thought some of the chapters (like that detailing the history of Islamic-Christianity conflict, another that ventured deeply into history of terrorism, and a third that examined significant court decisions that upset the intended balance of power) strayed a bit too far into detail, they do add to the understanding of the total picture. Buchanan demonstrates great knowledge across a broad spectrum of historical and current issues and shows much respect for America's foundation. He ties it all together in application to today's issues and missteps of our government. Though I tend to vote Democrat, I had great interest in reading about what 'the other side' is thinking and found myself in agreement with Buchanan on a vast majority of his arguments. As you can see by other books I recommend, I am greatly concerned about our political and economic future and the struggles we have ahead because of the issues government is not addressing today (offshoring/trade deficits, social security and medicare, military intervention). He attacks many of them and challenges Republican leadership to return to more traditional values.

Buchanan is making a Left turn but still votes on the Right

Pat Buchanan is 100% correct, the Neocons and 'Bush' have hijacked the constitution of America. This administration has planned from the beginning to colonize the Middle East. Bush wants to have an empire and Buchanan knows it, yet he steps back from his beliefs and doesn't follow up on various talk shows he's on. I think this is a very good book for all to read and reflect upon.

    Refreshing

Its really nice to hear someone from the right acknowledge that the right was hijacked! The Bush administration is just sellout to big business, wealthy america, and especially oil. I am a conservative not a reactionary which many people in the right are. I want us to work for the common blue collar folk, bring back jobs to America, and stay out of other peoples countries and Pat's got way better ideas that GW Bush does.

I never thought I'd agree with Patrick Buchanan!

I haven't even read this book yet, but the description sounds like the content is right on target. I'll be running right out tomorrow to get a copy.

    TRULY EXCELLENT!

Patrick J. Buchanan might not be everyone's cup of tea,but then who is?This author has delivered a stunning work in this book.Buchanan leaves no stone unturned as he names the people known as the 'neocons' who, according to the author, has hijacked the Bush presidency and set the United States on a course which can only lead to ruin. Moreover, the author has something which i find completely refreshing--the courage of his convictions.Speaking ina blunt tone, but surprisingly charming and witty,Buchanan absolutely dices to shreds the philosophy of the 'neocons' with istorical anecdotes to back it up.When i started reading this book i could not put it down,so compelling a writer he is.This is sure to be one of the most,if not THE most, controversial book of the year. But then what else could be expected from a man as honest as this? This is absolutely a must read.

    Buchanan At His Best

I picked up my copy of Pat's latest two days ago and as usual Buchanan is telling it like it is. The Republican Party needs,as Pat put it years back, players who are willing to crash and burn for their principles. Maybe then and only then will we be able to win as Reagan won and not sqeak by as we did in 2000 on a 5-4 vote of the Supreme Court.
