Meet the Author

oe York lives in London, Ontario with her young family. She has an English degree and works at a university, so it was probably a foregone conclusion that she'd write a romance novel one day. She's currently writing the third full-length novel in The Wardham Series.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. **4+++ Stars!!** Paul, hot and single police officer, is trying to be a good father to his 10-year-old daughter and doesn't think that includes getting involved with a woman. Karen’s managing her parents' grocery store while they follow her brother, a pro hockey player, around the country. She’s trying to figure out what to do with her life and what she wants to be when she "grows up" even though she’s 34 years old. She loves books and wants to be a Librarian in her town but never finished her degree, and then Paul moves into the house next door. They share a driveway and begin to have thoughts of sharing other things. Paul's daughter, Megan, loves to read and forms a pretty quick bond with Karen, but Paul is reluctant to act on the attraction he feels for Karen. Paul becomes the best friend that Karen needs, helping her decide what she wants for her future. Will part of that future include Paul? Will Paul be able to move beyond his self-imposed celibacy that he thinks is necessary to be a good dad and be open to being with Karen? Read this book and find out! This is the 2nd novel in the Wardham Series and I think it is even better than the first! I can't wait to read the next in this series!! Zoe York does an awesome job of letting the reader feel the passion building between Paul and Karen. And the kitchen scene...HOT!!!! Loved this book and would definitely recommend to others!

I feel the need to begin with "I am not a prude" I really enjoy the books & hope she writes more & more about wardham. But i feel like the explicir "r-rated " & even "x-rated" sex scenes are unneccessary to the story. It can be alluded to or if the author feels it an important part of the story the language should be toned down. I feel too embarrassed to recommend these boiks to my 27 yr old daughter or my sisters-in-law or mother in law. Thats a shame but if i personally camt read those scenes hwcan i recommend the book? I also afraid l that while flipping the pages to avoidthe sex scenes that i am missing important dialog or thoughts that may be insertedin those pages. I just dont understand why these chick romance lit stories (or whatever genre they fall under) need to have sexscenes that are like this.. i get that women like sex but its possible to add sex into a romance without turning it in to pornography. But thsts just my humble yet hinest opinion. I will continue to read herbooks & sncerey hope that she writes more than the 3 that I have about Wardham & i hope any writen in the future are a bit tamer...she could even have 2 versions. One like these & a tamer one that has milder sex scenes.

Well the second book in the Wardham series held up to all my expectations after reading the first. You meet Karen some in book one, but just get a little taste of her whole character, and that little taste just doesn't tell you well enough about who she really is. Well after reading this, I can safely say that Karen is one of my favorite female characters! She is mouthy when she needs to be, funny when it's called for and very sweet and supportive when the time is right. She is just the kind of person I want to hang out with, the fact that she's super hooked on books too has nothing to do with that either!! ;) I did have a little harder time liking Paul at first. I don't know what it was... maybe how he pushed Karen away, pulled her back and pushed again. Don't get me wrong he was super sweet and there were certain moments when he could melt my heart, but I just wish he hadn't been so, well, wishy washy. He did always come through when he was needed the most though, so I definitely give his character props for that. Half way through the book I realized that he had won me over. I am very excited/anxious to see where Ms York goes next with this series and hope the wait won't be too terribly long! I DEFINITELY recommend reading! I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Another amazing book in the Wardham series!  I fell in love with the first book in this series and couldn't wait to start this one and of course, wasn't disappointed.  I love the chemistry between Paul and Karen and love how their relationship just seems....real - for lack of a better word.  This series is more real life to me than a lot that I read and I love it!  Add in Paul's sexy body and you have a hit!

This was a good, quick read. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Did lose my interest pretty easily, but was still enjoyed.

I liked the characters and many parts of the story. Karen seems nice but she doesn't seem buddy material to me. Paul comes across super sexy and more than willing to be a good man for Karen and a great dad for his daughter! Parts of it were rushed. Parts of it were just boring about people I really didn't care about. I did not like the lack of completed happily ever after ending. I was hoping for more insight. It was too long not to be a "finished" story.

I enjoyed this story but not as much as the first 2 in the series. I was frustrated by the communication issues this couple had. They are both sending mixed signals and holding back their real feelings for each other. That was also true for the first 2 novels but with this one I think the confusion even spreads to the reader so you can't even tell what the characters want. However I have been enjoying the free books in this series so much that I am now considering purchasing more.

Neighbors, friends, and lovers...two people (Karen and Paul) meet over a shared driveway dispute, but mutual attraction draws them together. Both have reasons for not becoming more. He has a daughter, Megan, from a previous marriage (and a none-too-comfortable shared parenting agreement) and she wants to return to school for her Master's degree in library science. Megan and she share books, and Paul and she share hot looks, but can they work out their various issues and actually communicate what each wants? As an aside, I knew a Karen Miller quite a few years ago so it was fun having a real-life person to contemplate for the main character. I live on the coast of Lake Erie, but it's the southern coast so again it was fun to see this novel set on the Canadian side. Too often, Americans are too egocentric believing every happens only in the United States when our neighbor to the north has so much going for it.

Both characters were instantly attracted to each other. They came across as wishy/washy to me. They were always whining about why they couldn't have what they wanted. She wanted a fling and he wanted a relationship. Even when they both wanted a relationship, she was afraid to take a chance for fear of potential heartbreak when the time came to leave town. Used British spelling like "colour" & "centre" (I think city is in Cananda). I had to read a paragraph about Jake and the church three times before I connected it back to a "Sixteen Candles" movie mentioned several pages back. Only got the reference since I have seen the movie. It just threw me out of the book for awhile. Overall, I just didn't connect to the characters. Only 2 stars and I won't be reading any others in the series.
