About the Author

As Executive Vice President, Chief Advocacy and Engagement Officer, Nancy LeaMond oversees AARP’s Community, State and National Affairs group, with responsibility for driving the organization’s social mission on behalf of Americans 50+ and their families. LeaMond leads government affairs and legislative campaigns for AARP; manages public education, volunteerism, multicultural outreach and engagement; and leads major AARP initiatives that include supporting family caregivers through advocacy, education and innovative programs. She manages a team of 700 staff and more than 17,000 volunteers across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

LeaMond holds a bachelor’s degree from Smith College and a master’s degree in public policy and urban planning from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She is a former trustee of Smith College, a member of the KB Home National Advisory Board on home and community development and the International Women’s Forum of Washington, D.C., and serves on the Guiding Committee of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Health Care Payment Learning and Action Network. She was named by The Hill as one of the Top Lobbyists in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
