    Contrived, but not entirely pathetic

I bought this record after reading a favorable review of it in Guitar One Magazine, and at first rolled my eyes at the post grunge cliches that abound in its 12 tracks. (Both lyrical, as in "You make me feel like nuthin," in "Down," the 1st single, and musical, as witnessed in the band's use of the quiet-verse-and loud chorus formula and the ragged, affected, "wish I was Kurt" vocals. However, to say just this would be unfair, as further listening reveals the band's use of subtle, almost keyboardlike guitar melodies which pop up in the latter half of the album that are more reminiscent of early 80's New Wave than early 90's Nirvana. This and other musical infleunces prevent this album from being a total exercise in rip-off artistry, but do not do enough to establish the band with its own identity, leaving it to be lumped in with other "here today, gone tomorrow" bands such as Trapt, Seether, and Theory of a Deadman.

    An Awesome NEW Band

I first saw them play live and fell in love. I picked up the CD THAT day! I couldnt get over whole good they sounded live. The cd doesnt come out of my car, and have an extra for home so I can listen to it wherever I go. These are some WAY talented muscians who found their calling. They have good solid lyrics, Neil voice is so raw yet soft it drawls you into & keeps you captivated while Chris & Dusty keep you moving with the guitars & brandon makes you rock OUT with the drums. DOWN was a major hit but their new single, EVERYONE, is a hard hitting follow up song. DONT miss out on this cd!! They are one of the most solid cds around!!

    Yay for Socialburn!

During the current obsession with "punk" on the radio, talented and deserving groups that play straight-up rock are often ignored in favor of "punk" bands like New Found Glory and Good Charlotte (No offense against either of them). This is the case with Socialburn. I had never even heard of the group until I went to a radio concert (that incidentally featured New Found Glory and Good Charlotte) and saw them rock. They were the most talented band that performed on the stage, and their cd, Where You Are, is even more proof. The CD with its well-captured songs delivers as much of a performance as seeing Socialburn live. From the powerful (although not my favorite) opener "Break Back" to the last song "Stacy," the CD (and Socialburn) makes for a powerful listen that many will enjoy.

    Socialburn is Addictivly Amazing!

I first heard Socialburn on a local radio station. I was, simply put, blown away by only 2 songs. I got the CD ASAP and not to my surprise, the whole thing was great. Every song got better than the last. I've introduced Socialburn to all my friends, no matter what kind of music they like, and they always seem to think Socialburn is great. 'Where You Are' is a must have CD. You can listen to these wonderful songs all day, everyday, and it just gets better and better. Anyway, I'd just like to say 'Where You Are' and Socialburn are the best!

    Go get Socialburn NOW!

This is a group of guys who are extremely talented & have found their calling. Their debut CD "Where You Are" is packed with melodic masterpieces. From the hard hitting truth of "Down" to the pain filled lyrics of "Everyone" you can't go wrong with this CD. The lyrics are thoughtful, at times painful but catchy. The guitar riffs rock. These guys truly know how to make music. If you don't have this CD yet, get it!

    Socialburn

This band is awesome. The guys are great just like their music. Neil has a voice of his own yet with a Kurt Cobain quality. Their music has emotion and originality.

    awesome cd, awesome live.

I saw them live after only hearing the single, and they were amazing! I bought the CD later that night. You know how when you see a band and then buy the album later the songs aren't as distinguishable? I could remember the songs and what was going on at the show when they played them. The sound is unique, the guitar and vocals are awesome (as well as the drums + bass, respectively) and they have a great energy live. I highly recommend both the CD and seeing them live!

    A HIT!

Whether you hear the music of this Florida Fab Four live or on the radio, the energy, the creativeness and pure talent that socialburn brings with "Where You Are" far outweighs any new signee in the music industry. With lyrics that all can easily relate to provided by Neil Alday, it's no wonder that everyone who hears Socialburn is left saying "Wow, I know what they mean." With the complementing vocals and alluring sounds of bass, drums and lead guitar, "Where You Are" is exactly where all new performing artists would like to be. If the first single "Down" or the recently released "Everyone" has yet to draw you in, grab a copy of the cd and take a listen to "U" and "Utopia" (which was written by bass guitarist Dusty Price). Socialburn has a style all of their own, but each track on the album is refreshingly different and offers something all its own to make this album one of a kind. "Where You Are" is just one of the first great things to come from these up and coming rockstars!

    kick-ass cd

This cd is awesome, i first heard them on HBO when their video played and loved them. i went out and bought the cd and got hooked. they have a unique sound, not the typical rock/alternative band. i got all my friends at sam houston state hooked on the band as well. we are bummed out that they arent coming to houston, but we are more than willing to drive to dallas or austin to see this band rock-out LIVE! do yourself a favor and buy this cd, it will never leave your cd player. (:
