Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Krisan Murphy
If you are a new fan or a long-time detective looking for the bespectacled, red-and-white-striped Waldo, you will be delighted with this twenty-fifth anniversary edition large-format book with a fold-out flap on each page. Supply-carrying Waldo (a kettle, binoculars, and a snorkel, among other things hand around his neck) does not stay long enough in one place to make it easy for Waldo-followers to find him. In this edition, Waldo travels from the town to the museum, from the beach to the ski slopes; thirteen locations in all are creatively spread out in colorful scenes. Each page provides hours of enjoyment while searching for the people, scenes, and items Waldo says can be found. He travels with his usual entourage—Woof, Wenda, Wizard Whitebeard and Odlaw. Thankfully, Waldo remembers to write home. He sends readers a postcard from each location with a description of items to look for in the hilarious fun-filled scenes. A check list and postage stamps are under the fold-out flap for the diligent Waldo-spotters. The jacket cover is a special bonus, because the reverse side is a poster of Waldo. Do not forget with everything else to discover, that Waldo is waiting to be found in this extraordinary edition for all ages. Reviewer: Krisan Murphy

Meet the Author

Martin Handford began his career as a freelance illustrator specializing in drawing crowd scenes for numerous clients. The turning point came when he was asked to create a book showcasing his singular talent, and the character Waldo was born. "I can’t tell you how pleased I am that Waldo has taken on a life of his own," says the man behind the Waldo books. "I’d like to inspire children - to open their minds, to explore more subjects, and to just be aware of what’s going on around them. I’d like them to see wonder in places that might not have occurred to them."
