Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Eleanor Heldrich
Do Waldo's fans ever stop long enough to read and remember the name of the man who creates these amazing drawings? This is the seventh Waldo puzzle book and his readers are invited again to find Waldo in his red and white stripped long sleeve shirt, bright blue trousers, and red and white cap with a red tassel. Also to be found in every scene are his friends Wenda and Odlaw, his dog Woof, and Wizard Whitebeard. There are eight scenes of unbelievable complexity, two are single 10" by 12 ?" pages and four are 12 ?" high by 20" long. After a long search I was unable to find Waldo or any of his friends even with a magnifying glass. Is it possible the main characters are changing their clothing or hiding behind the scenery? Just in case finding Waldo and his friends is too easy for his regular fans, there are other lost treasures to be found: Waldo's key, Woof's bone, Wenda's camera, Odlaw's binoculars, the wizard's scroll and "One more thing! Can you find a piece of paper that Waldo dropped from his notepad in every scene?" This book also includes a foldout Muddy Swamp Jungle Game with punch-out Waldo cards and puzzle pieces, and a press-out circus with a folder in which to store the pieces. Reviewer: Eleanor Heldrich
Publishers Weekly
In this seventh Waldo book, Waldo and his companions conceal themselves in a prehistoric landscape (with exotic dinosaurs not exactly found in the fossil record) and hide out during a “dog fight” (warrior men dressed in dog costumes wage battle using feather-tipped spears), among other unusual settings. Readers can also engage with interactive features like a “Muddy Swampy Jungle Game,” which comes with a fold-out board, counters and Waldo cards, and a punch-out “Wacky Waldo Circus,” complete with performers and an audience. The extras will entertain, but purists may find that nothing beats the fun of simply spotting Waldo in a crowd. Ages 5–8. (Oct.)\
