About Whether I’ll Live or Die

“It sounded so simple in theory; ready... aim... fire... but what actually transpired was so much more.”

Officer Nicole Nolan holds the gun steady in her hands, knowing that life will be forever altered once she pulls the trigger. Her position as a small town police officer is to protect those who cannot protect themselves. It is her job, her career and her life.

Amanda stands where protection does not exist. With several failed relationships behind her, Amanda turns a blind eye to the possessiveness Josh displays in order to sooth her desperate need to be loved. As the mental abuse turns violent, Amanda must deal with the denial and embarrassment of being a victim once again. With her emotional and physical health siting on the edge, she must fight to regain control of her life.

A gripping story with one final destination, but will it be life or death?

Meet the Author

Stacy is a full-time Police Officer who enjoys crime scene investigation above all else. She is a mother of two and her husband is also in law enforcement. She is very much into photography and carries her Nikon Digital SLR with her almost everywhere, just in case. She also has two Shiloh Shepherd dogs and loves to play catch with them.

Stacy uses her experience at work to make the stories more believable. Weaving bits of crime solving knowledge into her stories of fiction to make them more lifelike. She writes using a unique style that keeps you in the minds of all the important characters. Switching back and forth from mind to mind to keep the readers aware of what each character is feeling and why they do the things they do.

Her first book, My Blood Runs Blue was the start of her writing career. It brings the world of law enforcement into the paranormal world of vampires. It is a suspenseful adult series that will keep you guessing from chapter to chapter. Book one, My Blood Runs Blue, was published April 2011 and is currently available in paperback, hardcover and e-book editions. Book two of the series, entitled Blue Blood For Life was released September 2011 and like book 1 made International Best Selling lists on Amazon very quickly. The third book of this series is in the plot and characters development stage. She is hoping to have it completed and published in the winter of 2012.

Whether I’ll Live or Die is the third of her books to be published! This book is a fictional story about a young woman named Amanda who deals with the pain and emotional issues of Domestic Violence. You will read about how Amanda deals with the things life hands her while you follow Nicole Nolan as she grows at her new job as a police officer. This book is very emotional and intense as it deals with the all to real problems that face people in violent relationships.

Stacy is also currently working on several different novels. The first one is called Liveon. Using a similar writing style as her series, this book brings to life Detective Jacquelyn Liveon as she tries to protect a movie star who is being threatened. While this book is well on it’s way, it has been put to the side to make way for another book that she is working on.

She has plans for a Guardian Angel Series that she has stared on and another paranormal series, along with an addiction series.

Life changing, compelling and heartbreaking are just a few of the words I would use to describe author Stacy Eaton's novel, Whether I'll Live or Die. The author takes us on a compelling and life changing journey with characters Nicole and Amanda, two women whose lives are at complete opposites and yet inextricably intertwined. Whether I'll Live or Die focuses on the realities of Domestic Abuse, something that is all too prevalent in this day and age. It also takes us through life as a police officer and the violent crimes they face on a daily basis. Nothing about this story is sugar coated.

This book is absolutely riveting, taking you on a kaleidoscope of emotions while you quickly turn pages to reach the climatic ending, an ending that won't disappoint. A highly recommended read.

"Whether I'll Live or Die" is a riveting read that evokes several emotional responses as you read. The book details the lives of "Amanda" and "Nicole", two women who appear to be very different from the beginning of the book, but who become inextricably tied together by the end in a surprising and poignant twist. From beginning to end, both of their stories are raw and real, one trying to cope with an ongoing cycle of domestic abuse, the other dealing with life as a police officer inevitably drawn into violent crime. If you have an aversion to graphic violence or abuse, this is not the book for you. You will find traces of fairy tale love and romance, but it serves more as intermittent relief from an ongoing theme of brutality throughout the entire novel rather than hold a place as a prominent theme of its own. I repeat - this novel is raw and REAL, not for the squeamish.

Don't get me wrong. The violence is not gratuitous in any way. It is the essence of the experiences of these two women - experiences that will make you angry, sad, afraid, and even resolute in your pursuit of the final pages in order to see how it all ends. I will not give away spoilers, but I can say that there will be vindication by the end of the story. However, how you arrive at the ultimate resolution is a brilliantly crafted journey that engages the reader both emotionally and psychologically. The author teaches us that ultimately, destiny is in our own hands and we decide whether our spirits will live or die in this lifetime.

This novel was submitted to me for an honest review by the author.

This third novel by Stacy Eaton has received excellent reviews. Many use the words, “compelling”, “gripping”, and “heart wrenching”. They are all very good descriptions of this novel. I can only say this book grabbed my heart from page one.

We meet Amanda, an attractive young woman, with a good job, a best friend named Angela, and what seems at first glance to be a normal, happy life. She is drawn into a relationship with a very attractive man, who seemingly has the same interests, and cares for her. As the relationship continues, small things creep in to make her uncomfortable. He is verbally abusive and belittling, which escalates to physical abuse. Amanda leaves. She is protected by a friend from the gym she goes to, and their relationship moves to sex, and living together. This relationship spirals down the same sad road of abuse, ending with a decision that breaks Amanda’s heart, and her spirit. She leaves again.

Next we meet Nicole, a recent graduate of the Police Academy, in a small town in Pennsylvania. Nicole sees a bright future, she has many friends, and a thirst for justice. We follow her as she grows into a respected officer in the community, and with her fellow police officers. She finds love and security with Colton, an officer in another division. These two women come together in a startling conclusion.

Ms. Eaton has brought the sadness of abuse in our society to us, in a fictionalized version , looking at two different women who seem to have no connection. The abuse to women, men, children and even innocent animals is not fiction.

Thank you Ms. Eaton for this excellent story of a very heartbreaking fact of life.

Wow, simply wow… that was intense!! Stacy Eaton is a magnificent writer. This book pulls me into the story, so much that I find it very hard to stop reading once I start and it kept me on edge of my seat with each turn of the page.

Being a police dispatcher, I get to hear the beginning of these calls, and sometimes the outcome. This book brings a new light to the issue of abuse against women. The stark detail made me want to reach into the pages to help. While this book deals with a very delicate situation, it is handled with grace and style. This is a must read for anyone, male or female. It is most definitely an eye opener.

    Two women

Amanda is a young woman with a knack for picking the wrong man. With Josh, she thinks she finally scored gold. It quickly, but not quickly enough, becomes apparent, that Josh isn't who she thought he was. Seven years later, Amanda is married to a man who drinks too much, cheats, and is physically abusive. She must find it within herself to help herself find the confidence to move on with life.

Nicole is a confident woman, who as a police officer, spends her time protecting the public. She particularly is interested in helping physically abused women. The two women's lives intersect in a way you can't imagine.

The book was realistic in that it took a while for Amanda to gather her courage and made mistakes and excuses along the way. It was a process in a way that mimics real life. There is dignity in the way Ms. Eaton presented this story.

Whether I'll Live or Die isn't for the light-hearted. It takes the emotional journey of a woman who is being physically, mentally and emotionally abused and brings it to light. You also see that journey through the eyes of a female police officer who deals with domestic abuse.

Reading this story made me pray that I would never be in a situation like this. This story definitely needs to be read to show us how tough it is for women who are abused. We also need to read it to learn to protect ourselves, both men and women, from domestic violence.

The story is phenomenal and beautiful in an emotion way. You will find yourself praying that Amanda, the women being abused, has a happy ending. And there is a surprise twist that you will never see coming. Pick this book up and read it! You won't regret it!
