Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Nancy Garhan Attebury
If asked what they do while they sleep, children may say something like "Nothing at all" or "I was just dreaming." However, do they take time to think about situations going on in other places in the world while they sleep? The aim of this intriguing book is to enlighten readers about all they miss when they sleep at night. Its format is broken into five different subjects that include the human body, animals, nature, space, and pop culture. Pages for each subject are clearly marked with colored tabs, making it easy to find all info quickly when dealing with one specific subject. This helps students gather facts for reports. Some high-interest facts included are that boa constrictors have as many as 60 babies at a time and can be as long as two feet when at birth, there are many outdoor markets in the world that are held at night, there is an arch in St. Louis, Missouri that sends glowing light 630 feet in the air, and the longest someone ever went without sleep is eleven whole days. Hilarious illustrations on most every page warrant more than one look and add to the entertainment factor of the book. This book is an excellent supplement to a classroom and may be especially helpful with reluctant readers. Reviewer: Nancy Garhan Attebury
