Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
There certainly are a lot of superheroes to keep track of and Tony Stark is one of them. He is really Iron Man. Two of his friends know about his secret identity and help him out—James "Rhodey" Rhodes and Pepper Potts. Tony is apparently always perfecting his Iron Man armor and he has developed a new battle glove. Pepper's father has been abducted and she is trying to help find him, but gets caught by Mr. Fix. Once freed and back at Tony's lab they run into another problem: Whiplash has captured Rhodey and is intent to fight Iron Man, but Tony manages to get into his more powerful armor and save the day. For fans who like to see robot like creatures zapping each other, this book will have some appeal. Whiplash may be defeated but the mastermind Mr. Fix is still on the loose to wreak havoc on another day. The cartoon style illustrations look like comic books or graphic novels. A Level 3 book in the "Step into Reading" series. There is a note to parents on the opening page and additional books in the series listed on the inside cover. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
