Overview

Michael understood the pyro. People were always fascinated by fire.It seemed to have a life, a spirit of its own, and a brain as well. It maneuvered, it cajoled, it entranced, it enticed. It drew people towards it, as if they were hypnotized, then turned on them with a vicious evil. In spite of everything else going on in his life, Michael was responsible for bringing the pyro to justice. And Lacey and her crew tirelessly fought the fires in their town, while the Mob moved in to protect their own.-------
..."Lacey looked back at the house. The roof was engulfed in flames, as were the other roofs of the homes surrounding them in the cul-de-sac. They were almost trapped by the fire. The only escape was for them all to hop on the fire engine, which stood uselessly pumping water on the towering Enemy, and try to make it out of the street through flames now arcing across the road. Once the hose was disconnected, they hung on for dear life, as the engine careened through the wall of flames."-------

..."She was lost within the building, violating the first rule a Probie should follow. She'd left the safety of the hose.
The fire was roaring in her ears, the black smoke was thick and dense, and she wondered if her tank would run out of air. Fear clawed at her, but she fought it off.

She walked like a blind person, arms spread wide in front of her, reaching for the phantom wall. The warehouse was huge, and she hoped she was headed in the right direction. She listened for the crew, but all she heard was the rumble of fire."-------

"...Listen," Cap leaned across the table, and he was very close to the glaring face of Ross, "I know what fire can do to a person, especially a series of arsons like we've had here lately. It gets under your skin. It eats away at you, slowly, and every time you go in and eat more smoke, you think about your dead friends. And then, it eats at you some more. You dream about it. And you get mad, when you think about the pyro going in there and lighting that fire on purpose. There's nowhere for that anger to go."

Meet the Author

A writer who enjoys the craft, mostly romances and the push-pull between a man and a woman. I've written 14 novels, 2 self-help books and 4 YA books. My favorite novels are romances, to read and write. The hero is always strong, hunky and sensitive! The heroine is always sexy, smart and very wary! Mix the two together and it is always a bit magical. E-mail is fornat2003@yahoo.com and also find me at Goodreads.
